It was a little bit before Christmas and Bailey still had so much to do. Even though this year was a little different, he wasn't spending it with his family since he's been so busy with the restaurant being successful, and that was fine with him. The restaurant having good business made the man happy. The success made Bailey starting over all worth it. However, he still had to buy presents and wrap them as well. He & his siblings always traded gifs
The man wasn’t even finished decorating his apartment, even though It was a beautiful morning as it had snowed a few days ago, and the beautiful snow hit the ground and covered the whole town. Snow was his favorite. He first met his wife when it was snowing. Being in Fletcher Park was one of his favorite things to do right before Christmas. It was beautiful, and he needed the fresh air. Sitting on the gazebo with his coffee warming his hands, Bailey took in the sight and then took a deep breath. Hearing all the background noises of kids playing in the snow, dogs barking and the bustling of the wind, Bailey held on tight to his coffee to warm his hands and then looked up “I always forget how beautiful it is here when it snows. I mean, it's freezing because it's Maine.., but its beautiful.”

It’s rude to be on her her laptop when she’s with company – a fact her lil stepbro reminds her weekly at family dinner – but her company isn’t here yet and patience has never been one of Robin’s virtues so why not get some work done while she waits, right? What Aiden doesn’t know, won’t hurt him.
Photoshop open, project loaded, wifi connected – now to find some background noise. But when Netflix loads instead of the quintessential ta-dum she is met with silence. Her brows furrow as she minimizes her work e-mail to investigate the problem. A message.
She reads it once. Then again before popping out an earbud to announce to the room, “dude, what the fuck? Netflix is raising their fee again?” Perhaps not earth shattering news but nevertheless the frowns (pouts, really) at the screen. “Eighteen bucks for premium, they’re really trying to get my ex to kick me off his account, huh? Unbelievable.” Well that settles it, she’s definitely getting cheesy fries.
Bailey was getting breakfast at Timothy's, it wasn't his favorite spot in town but they sure did have good food. He sat down in a booth and was paying attention to all the noises around him, the sound of a grill being lit from the kitchen, the sound of swinging doors opening and people chatting about what theyre doing for the Holiday season. Taking out his journal and a pen, Bailey began to write down his thoughts. The waitor had come by and given Bailey his cup of warm coffe, putting it together he picked the mug up and put it to his lips, taking a sip. Swallowing the hot coffe down, Bailey continued to write down his thoughts in his journal. This had become a morning routine, getting breakfast here and just enjoying his alone time before he had to head into Work.
The background noise of a busy diner had gotten so loud and the man couldn't concentrait. Putting his pen down, he startled a little bit when he heard someone's voice come from a couple seats away. Looking up and seeing the blonde, he laughed a little and then shook his head "Netflix isn't my favorite. I mean it's great sure, but have you heard of Disneyplu, Hulu, Amazon Prime?" He questioned, not sure why he was striking up a conversation but decided to anyways. Looking at her now, Bailey smiled “What are you watching?”
Phoebe had just finished up her Saturday classes. Usually she would stay for an hour after to get her own skating in, but she promised Daisy she would take her to get a treat after practice. Phoebe loved that her daughter was interested in taking figure skating classes, but she could sometimes get upset when Phoebe would spend a little extra time helping some of the other kids in her beginners group class. It had been the two of them for so long that sometimes Daisy had a hard time sharing her with other kids. So Phoebe promised her that after practice they would spend the rest of the afternoon together doing something fun, and of course Daisy wanted candy.
Phoebe was standing at the front of the store, sucking on a lollipop as she watched Daisy run around filling a clear plastic bag with candy. “I’m going to regret this later” she said to the person standing nearby. “There’s nothing worse than a 10 year old with a sugar high.”
Bailey hadn't been in Sweet Surrender in quite some time. He wasn't much of a candy person, not even as a kid but every once in a while Bailey would stop inside on his way to work to see what they had. If he could pick his favorite candy, it'd be sour gummy worms. For some reason that had always been his first choice when picking a snack at the movie theaters.
Grabbing a plastic bag, he started to fill it up with blowpops, gummy worms and warheads. Bailey felt like a little kid again, getting candy in a candy store. He looked over and saw a little girl running around like crazy, and Bailey sighed, and then couldnt help but smile and then realized someone was talking to him. Laughing a little, he nodded his head "You might regret it, but she's cute and after her sugar high is done hopefully she'll get a good night sleep." Shaking his head, he finished putting his bag together “She’ll probably crash.”

WHERE: Platinum Gallery
WHO: Open (@somertonstarter)
WHEN: Saturday, Dec 5th
Kate had specific places in town that she felt so at peace and ease—the gallery being one of those—even if her memories of the location were so recent. Platinum Gallery was her second home because, after the accident, had been the first place where she felt herself. She didn’t remember it, or who she was, but there was a lingering feeling that it was where Kate was meant to be. It was no wonder she spent so much of her time there now, curating photographies and panting, inspecting their arrivals, organizing future showings.
That afternoon the gallery was open for public and she spent her morning arranging the following week’s events. So when afternoon came, Kate strolled through the paintings and photos, there was something about them that calmed her. They had a recent selection for sale and along them there was one of her own photographs hanging on the wall—it was very simple, Somerton’s main street completely peaceful, nearly empty, in an early morning, with a worker opening one of the stores. All in black and white.
She saw the person hanging by it and eyed them curiously, “Somerton is just spectacular, isn’t it?”
Bailey wasn't much into art. His wife was, and while living in the city that never sleeps it was just an easy walk from their apartment to The Met. That's what he and his wife did on the weekends, go to The Met or The Strand and then hang out in Central Park. He misses New York, but it wasn't home anymore. Somerton was, and Somerton reminded him of New York. Well, there were bits and pieces of the small town that did anyway. Maybe it was all the small businesses or the rush of people who lived here. The one place he liked to escape to when he couldn't escape his thoughts, Bailey went to The Platinum Gallery. Bailey so wished he went with his wife, but that wasn't possible so he stood there looking at each and every panting. Studying them, like she used to.
Getting lost within his thoughts again, thinking of how much he has grown to love art and the world within it, Bailey looked up as he saw Kate standing next to him. "It is. One of my favorites here. Kind of reminds me something out of a Charles Dickens novel." Bailey admitted and then smiled "Hey Kate, how are you doing?" He questioned the brunette, and then shoved his hands into his pockets.
BRIDGEPORT ⇢ FULL O’BEANS
ft. anyone @somertonstarter
The 4am wake up calls had long since become a part of Felicity’s morning routine, but that didn’t mean that some days they didn’t hit harder than others. Being ready to be on camera at 6 in the morning was something she had to remind herself was part of the big dream, and that she was just doing what she was meant to be doing. It didn’t make her any less tired though, despite how much it was what she had worked her entire career to get to. The drop in energy levels had her straight to Full O’Beans, the best coffee place she could to near the television studios downtown. She didn’t have anything set for the afternoon apart from a little bit of research for her show the next morning (the ‘fluff’ pieces seemed to provide the most work), and so taking a little time for herself and a well deserved caffeine fix was more than needed. Her hands clasped at the mug, her body relaxing into the chair beneath her as she savored the warmth. The recent turn into winter weather meant that the coffee was perhaps doing more duty than just the pick-me-up, but a warm-me-up too. It seemed that plenty of others had sparked the same idea, the cafe quickly filling up around her, enough for her to feel guilty for taking up more space than she probably should have. “Did you want to sit? I won’t be much longer, and you won’t hear a peep out of me, I promise.”
The morning was cold, and the snow was falling. It was Bailey's favorite time of year, winter was. Reminded him of his childhood when he'd play in the snow with his siblings. Sometimes Bailey wished he could go back in time to change things, but they say the past is the past for a reason. He moved to Somerton to get a fresh start, and he loved being her for as long as he have. The second place he found in Somerton was FULL O' BEANS, coffee had helped in get rid of the kick and feel for bringing out a beer bottle at 8AM. It was a cute little coffee shop, it wasn't his Starbucks but this place had become his favorite and he was happy with that.
Always getting up early to come here before work, Bailey had to since the line was sometimes wrapped outside and around the corner, that's how good and how busy it was. Being a small buiness, it was a good thing to have that kind of line. He didn't mind waiting. Although he was inside, Bailey couldn't help but look at the menu. He always got the same thing, but this morning he felt like ordering something different. Looking up at the menu, the thirty-nine year old sighed and then head a familiar voice "Felicity, hi! No, I'm good thanks. I'm just grabbing coffee and then I gotta go and open up the resturant to make sure my new wokers did closing right." Standing in line, but facing the brunette now he smiled "How are you?" He questioned, and then realized it was his turn to order. Being boring, Bailey just decided to order the same thing as he couldn't think of what to get this time.

where: On The Rocks Bar
when: December 5th, 2020
As she sat in the booth, sounds came at her from all directions. The bar’s music blared a brand of classic rock that Josie almost recognized, but couldn’t quite place, which caused the people around her to talk louder than normal just to be heard by those sitting next to them. Josie could’ve put her Airpods to dampen some of the noise, but she chose not to. The business of it all was part of the reason she chose to work at On The Rocks that evening.
She wasn’t writing or editing, just loosely bouncing around ideas for projects she may or may not want to take up in the future. Even if she didn’t decide on anything that evening, she would’ve looked at the bullet point filled Word document long enough for the ideas to stick in the back of her mind for the next day or so. That in itself was enough, because it meant that the next time she sat down and opened the Word document, whether it be tomorrow or the day after that, she’d have no trouble typing out more ideas. If she let something float in the back of her mind for a while, it was almost impossible for her not to think of something new or add on to what she already had.
In her peripheral, Josie saw a figure sit down in the booth across from. Not being in the middle of typing anything, she closed her laptop and turned her attention to them.
“What if I had been saving that for someone? I wasn’t, so you’re safe this time, but next time you might not be so lucky.”
It was a shitty night for Bailey. Sure, he's come such a long way since his wife and childs passsing but the man still had those nights when he felt like there wasn't a point to it all anymore. When he first moved to Somertone, the first place Bailey had found was On The Rocks. It was his favorite bar, the noise level was always perfect and it gave him some time to drink his ginger ale instead of alcohol and write in his journals. People watching was always his favorite thing to do, being here for a long time now Bailey had reconized some but not most. Finding a booth to sit in, he wasn't hungry yet but once he got his ginger ale he figured he'd try and get something to eat.
Pulling out his journal, Bailey pulled out his pen from his pocket and began to write his thoughts down. It was a way to keep him going, a way to keep in contact with his wife. That was a weird way of putting it, Bailey always knew that but it helped him and it was something his therapist suggested and Bailey actually liked it. Though, he wasn't really talkin to his wife in his journals he was talking to his duaghter. Telling her all the succes he's had so far since becoming sober. Sure, sitting in a bar right now was tempting but Bailey didn't care.
He wasn't going to go down that path again, he had lost everything and Bailey didn't want that to happen again. Getting lost within his thoughts though, he didn't notice that someone was talking to him. Stopping his writing, he closed his journal and put his pen down but then laughed and looked at the beautiful women who stood in front of him "I'm sorry. I didn't know that someone was going to sit here. I can move if you'd like?" Putting a hand over his now grown beard, he felt a little awkward.
PLEASE READ AT YOUR OWN RISK AS THERE ARE TALKS ABOUT THE SENSITIVE SUBJECTS THAT ARE LISTED ABOUT;;;
William Gilcrest was born and raised in the heart of Chicago, but resided in the suburbs and was the only child of Thomas and Rebecca Gilcrest. They were two hardworking, young parents who had no business having a child and starting a family. So as a teenager in high school, William made a promise to himself that as soon as he found the one, he would tell her how much he wanted a big family so his kids would never feel the loneliness he felt.
William went onto bigger and better things after high school, he went to New York University to study business and medicine, getting his doctorate degree but had changed his mind one day when volunteering at a local fire station, and decided to become a firefighter instead of a doctor. During a call one night, William met the love of his life while dropping off a victim at the nearest hospital. She was beautiful and William knew from the moment he looked at her, he knew that she was the one. Victoria Anderson was the doctor on call when he dropped off his vic, and the moment the two started talking she knew as well that William was the one for her. It was a while before William finally got up the courage ask her out, when he did they dated for a few years. It was on their second anniversary that William realized Victoria was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with and create that big family with he’s always wanted. Thankfully she felt the same, since as soon as he proposed William was beyond happy that she said yes to both of those things.
After a year of marriage together, William and Victoria had welcomed their first son into the World, they decided to name him Charles William Gilcrest but call him Charlie for short. He was their most prized possession, their perfect thing. The first two years with their son was great, and it was no surprise that Victoria had announced one Thanksgiving that she was pregnant with her second and as it was another boy, they named him Bailey. After their second son had arrived, they announced to their families again that Victoria was pregnant with her third and, but this time a girl and named her Lucy Elizabeth Gilcrest an finally when they were done, well they thought they were done, William and Victoria had welcomed her fourth and final child. Another beautiful baby girl, whom they decided to name Gracie Danielle Gilcrest. They were now done and they were happy.
Bailey Lukas Gilcrest was brought into this World on a hot August afternoon, the 15th to be exact bak in 1981. The moment Bailey opened up his big beautiful eyes, and gave his parents a small smile, Victoria and William knew that he was going to be their golden boy. For some reason, Victoria and William knew that Bailey was going to be the most successful one. He grew up loving basketball and baseball, and he got along well with his siblings. They were his best friends, though he’s very close with Gracie. Bailey did good in school, getting straight A’s and never missing a day. School was one of the most important things to him, unlike his siblings but being a Gilcrest he had to follow in his older brothers footsteps, and he was quite popular. It wasn’t his favorite thing as Bailey was more of an introvert, but he did have two best friends and fell in love his freshman year.
He met the love of his life in the middle of freshman year of high school, her name was Noora Watson. She was beautiful, she was a cheerleader and he was the lead basketball player. They were young, but Bailey and Noora knew that they wanted to spend the rest of their life with one another. Throughout high school, they were known as the “it” couple, the “romcom” couple and the two were fine with it. His studies was still the most important thing to Bailey and he stayed onto of his game. It wasn’t until his Junior year when he broke his foot after a snowboarding accident, and had some time off from the game. Bailey spent some time with his mom and realized how much he loved to cook and bake. More so on the cooking side, and then it wasn’t until his Senior Year when he got accepted into Johnson & Whales University in Rhode Island and wanted to study Culinary.
Still dating Noora, and still falling in love with her they stuck to it their entire time throughout college. Sticking mainly to his studies and being super focused on his culinary classes, it was in his Senior year that Bailey decided after the two graduated and were living together, he was going to propose. That’s exactly what he did, after Bailey and Noora’s senior year he proposed to her and thankfully she said yes. Being engaged for a year, they finally got married, and being married for two years, Noora surprised Bailey by telling him she was pregnant. He was so excited to become a father, and she was so excited to become a mother. Everything was perfect, Noora was healthy and the baby was heathy. However, when 9 months hit and she was ready to give birth to their beautiful baby girl, no one saw it coming. Sadly, the baby didn’t make it and neither did Noora. He wasn’t sure why this would happen if they were both healthy, but unfortunately the Doctor said this does happen quite often.
Bailey was devastated, he was devastated and angry. He lost the love of his life and his beautiful newborn daughter, and Bailey fell into a deep depression. At the time he drove himself into work and stopped talking to his friends and family. He became the youngest executive chef at a restaurant after running away to London, trying to get a fresh start. He was the first at 26 to receive five stars for his cooking, and most people would say he was like the Luke Skywalker of Culinary. However, his depression snuck up on him every once in a while.
He would get wasted throughout the day, spend a few hours at work and then leave and get into bar fights purposely, while buying drugs to get high to forget about the pain he felt after loosing the love of his life and his newborn daughter. When Bailey got fired after going into his job wasted one night and stealing alcohol, he decided that this wasn’t the life Noora and his family wanted him to live. So he realized he had to start fresh, and realized he had to make amends with the people he hurt. It took him a couple of years, but he finally started over and settled down in a new place. Finding Somerton, Maine was the best thing for him, he started from scratch and opened up his own Restaurant, an Italian cuisine over looking the lake. It was peaceful and Bailey was proud of it.
