Late Night Thoughts 1:40 am

The blackness just spills over the road leaving my mind to wander back to the corner you’ve found a home in.  

Where did you go? I’ve searched high and low for you and the only true place I know you’ll stay is in my mind, tucked away with all the rest of the broken promises and hearts.  You’re like the decorations I’ve retired, no longer serving a purpose in my life.

What did I do? Sometimes I blame myself and ponder the roads we decided to take, our fights blow up in my face and I grip the wheel even harder feeling the bitter words you once shouted burn new scars into my skin.

 What if? Now here is the biggest struggle I face, going back and trying to imagine what could have happened if we never parted.  I could have been the last one to hang a smile on your face and feel your touch and now I don’t know if you’ve given up or found comfort in a complete stranger that you picked up on the side of the road to complete the hole your chest bore.
