I wouldn't consider Monster Hunter or Bugsnax an attempt to be "Pokemon killers," but I digress.
By the way, if you ever want to feel dread Bugsnax is a great game for that!

TW for Gaza and just really upsetting content. Of course I blurred the main image (since they're of children,) but still.
Basically somebody compared not being able to afford Nintendo games to genocide.
I found this while I was down the "Pickmos" rabbit hole. Apparently they had to change some of the models? I'm sure this has nothing to do with any copyright laws! Because they weren't stolen- they were "traced!" Totally different!
On a side note, if they could do this this entire time why haven't they in the first place? People would still call it a "Pokemon clone" but they'd at least be a lot more inaccurate with it if they didn't start with "tracing" assets.
"They didn't steal it- they just traced it!" ass argument.
If I traced a Mickey Mouse drawing and sold it, would that be okay? What if I made his pants blue and added some spikes to it? Would Disney be okay with that? I didn't steal the image! I just traced over it!

So I guess they're "taking inspiration" from fan art now. That's extremely shitty.
Edit: Apparently this isn't from Palworld, but "Pickmos." Down the rabbit hole I go!
What the hell is this?
I know I joked about making money out of barely changed assets before but Jesus Christ. That is literally just Wild Link with a gun. I'm pretty sure they didn't change anything there!
And it was apparently called "Pickmon" first? But they changed it "for the lore."
They are literally calling themselves "PocketGame!"
Wait, THAT'S A DIFFERENT BANNER! Did they also change the Pokemon Pickmon "for the lore?!"
I thought I was joking when I said that I'd be going down the rabbit hole with this!

I found this in the wild. Speaking of which,
Some context: Genshin Impact was compared to Breath Of The Wild for looking kind of similar. At least in it's infancy. And only in the environments and shading style.
Pocketpair on the other hand steals assets from other games (like BOTW) and touch them up in a very "Original character- do not steal" kind of way.
Y'know what? Bonus rant.
People never compare these things to Bokoblins even them they're clearly just BOTW's Bokoblin's with part of the hair from the Desert Voe's outfit,
But they compare these two things?
I have never played Genshin Impact but from how I understand it it's a gacha game with a variety of play styles and the story (stories?) is wildly (heh) different from any Zelda game.
So why does Pocketpair get a pass despite blatantly ripping assets from Nintendo games but not miHoYo for making a sort of similar looking game?
I have two takes on the digital only PS6 thing.
On one hand, between tariffs and the rapidly rising prices of RAM I totally understand why they can't afford to make a disc version, at least not right away.
On the other hand, there's not a whole lot of PS5 exclusives, and most multi-platform games are on PC, but not physically. I think part of the reason why people got a PS5 is for the physical media. That's why the disc version was more popular despite being $100 more expensive. (I think they're also going to be stopping production of disc PS5 systems, too.)
Plus I'm pretty sure most people by now has a decent PC. Hell, even my $600 laptop that wasn't necessarily made to be a gaming laptop can handle games like Silent Hill f pretty well. So uh... I don't exactly have hope for Sony here.
Anyway, here's Domino's making fun of them. Is it necessary? Not one bit. Is it funny? Kinda.
The people who's been complaining about how "bad" the direct was have only played Mario and Smash Brothers, apparently.

Scarlet and Violent don't run on 3 FPS. The fuck are they on about? If you talk to anybody who's actually played through the game they'd all say the same thing- there's some lag in the giant lake, but that's it.
Game Freak also developed Pokopia.
But they also had nothing to do with BDSP and Detective Pikachu on the Switch, but because they didn't do well they get blamed for those games anyway.
Also, apparently Dragon Quest Builders 2 ran horribly on the Switch according to some people. (I wasn't even aware that the game was on the Switch.) Game Freak had nothing to do with that port of the game. So by their logic Game Freak is the ones who saved Pokopia.
People are complaining about a free-to-play game because it's Pokemon, of course. The thing is, they're not actually explaining anything. At most I've heard that you had to pay to play it, which is a lie, and that Pokemon Stadium- a game that was $60 retail- had more stuff to it compared to the free game. Otherwise it's just "it's bad" without any reason to why "it's bad."
It's not even close to predatory compared to other games like it. Including Masters EX. The Pokemon you can get are competitively viable. You get points rather you win or lose. There's no gacha system. And it's pretty easy to get free stuff through missions. You don't even need to pay for NSO to play online.
Yeah, you can have a huge advantage if you have save files for the games and have Pokemon in Home (which does give you a box for free, btw) if you train competitively. Any Pokemon you get through the game can wipe out any untrained Pokemon.
It's a fun free game that will kill time and people are bitching about Game Freak "being greedy" despite them not having worked on the game. (And despite it being FREE.)
Pokopia is a dangerous game. It's extremely addictive. My husband finally started playing the game and I'm just sitting here thinking "damn. Maybe I should start Dragon Quest Builders. I understand why he was addicted to that now, too" like the addict I became.
The weirdos who are upset that this game is doing well aren't actually weirdos who are upset. They're actually there to warn you. They are the D.A.R.E. for this game.
NintenDeen is complaining about something with Pokopia within the same hour of it's launch and is calling it "FOMO." (Fear Of Missing Out.)
I don't even know what the Live Service Mechanic is. I played maybe a minute of the game before I got hungry and saw this video in the corner of my eye.
When I tried looking it up I just got this video and one video jokingly complaining about how addictive the game is.
I know that NintenDeen is low-hanging fruit. Not even other grifters like him. But Jesus Christ man, at least play the damn game before you complain about it.
Wow. That's... Extremely pathetic.

I absolutely love Pomeranians so I might just keep my Pombon unevolved. It might just be the absolute CUTEST starter ever! Now I'm glad that those "starter leaks" were fake!
Apparently my husband has a coworker who was originally really excited about getting Legends Z-A before she was bullied out of not buying it due to a bunch of lies about it that she was fed. (Mostly about the gameplay "being the same as always." But it's not??? It's very different from previous games! She has acknowledged this before!)
When she told my husband the reasons and said something like "I just can't support Game Freak" he laughed because she spends hundreds of dollars every month on Pokemon cards!
I asked him if she told him that he was the reason why "Pokemon never changes" (even though it has) and he said "no" because he pointed the Pokemon Card thing out.
There's more to the conversation, but it gets a bit personal so I'll just cut the post there. (Even though it does sort of highlights what I've been saying about people acting all privileged with zero problems int heir lives over a video game.)
He did point something out to me about the whole "being part of the problem." People will pay hundreds of dollars for a single life sized plush of their favorite Pokemon, but us spending $60 on a video game every now and then is the thing that's "ruining the franchise?"
Another accurate meme that somehow also relates to what my husband's ex-coworker did coincidentally.
She got fired shortly after that happened, so I'm not sure if she's still buying Pokemon cards. We still talked to her until she proved to us that she was fired for a reason.
She was pretty good at hiding her racism around my husband until that racism got her fired and she went on a racist rant about how their black coworker is getting special treatment for being black.
That doesn't have anything to do with Pokemon. I'm just mad that she was able to hide her massive racism from my husband for so long and I had to vent about that.
So yeah. Hypocrites or whatever.
