they probably haven’t ordered enough to be sitting in this booth for as long as they have. it’d surely be an issue if this place’s turnaround was steady, but it’s not. that’s lucky for lyle and lyle’s one slice of pie.

They don’t look like it happens all the time, they look like they’ve been caught with their pants down. Ari tries to firefight a little and save them the embarrassment. He doesn’t have any napkins to hand, unfortunately.

‘You get nosebleeds a lot?’ The person across from Ari doesn’t seem to have noticed the little stream just beginning to waterfall off of their chin. It’s the car crash decision and he’s chosen to look, at least he’s trying not to stare.

    “It’s - it’s real good, oh man, I’m lovin it.” Val looks sidelong at where he thinks Vinny is, just for a second, and then looks back at the plate, and clenches his hand into a fist so he can cough into it, delicately. “Oh man. This is so good, oh boy oh man. Whoo! Hell yeah, lovin this. Lov-in this!” He coughs again, clears his throat on the end of it. He has another mouthful halfway towards his mouth when something seems to occur to him and he drops his fork, looking mournfully over at Lyle, lips pressed to a flat line.

    “Alright I gotta come clean here, I gotta, you’re right Vinny, absolutely right as always. I got a gluten intolerance. And in the spirit of—” he coughs again, and strains, wheezing, “—of transparency I’m, uh, I’m havin what you might call a reaction to - to the — hhhoh fuck, nghh. Oh god. Jesus fuck—”

    ‘ is this an “i’m gonna break out into hives allergy” or an “i’m gonna die” allergy, because there’s a big difference, val. there’s a really big, huge difference.’  lyle’s breaking a sweat, and if it’s val who’s looking mournful, they’re looking flat out depressed by comparison. there’s a lot going on, including the more prominent introduction of vinny’s place in all this, and it’s not exactly what they were looking for on a friday night.

ABILITIES / POWERS  : lyle can’t die, so far as we know. they have a suspicion there might be some caveats in the disease department, but so far they have a very long and impending life ahead of them. RESTRICTIONS  :  they have pretty severe anxiety, and while i’m not the happiest to stick that as a fact under “restrictions,” that’s certainly how they feel about it. they also have a pretty crippling fear of heights, which isn’t helped by the fact that they’ve fallen off a cliff before.
