1. Explore the world around you. Immerse yourself in different religions and belief systems, foods and fashions, cultures and rituals, but remember you are there to be taught, not to teach.

2. Time will show people’s true colors. Where you go from there is up to you and you alone.

3. It’s okay to say ‘No’.

4. When someone tells you, you hurt them you do not ever get to tell them you didn’t. The only decision you get to make is if you’re going to take responsibility for your actions.

5. Respect where people are in their lives, even if you don’t get it.

6. Top sheets are fucking stupid and they should cease existence.

7. You are allowed to cut ties with people who are negative spaces in your life, even if they are family.

8. Life will hit you in the face as hard as it can. Learn your lessons, grow as an individual, and move forward.

9. Allow yourself to mourn your losses, but don’t dwell on what could have been different.

10. Kettle corn is often not made using kettles anymore because what even is tradition?

11. Your worth as a woman is not defined by your sex appeal and your virginity.

12. Before you are anything else in this world you are a human being and that, in and of itself demands respect.

13. Recycle. It’s not the polar bears fault their habitat is becoming unlivable and they can’t do anything about it. Save future generations of animals and human beings.

14. Kids are always sticky and literally no one knows why.

15. Never let anyone make you question your selfworth.

16. Be kind, but don’t let people walk all over you. Know when it’s time to swing and when it’s time to sit it out.

17. If someone puts being right in front of you and your feelings, they are not your friend.

18. Don’t waste your time trying to impress people, if they really care about you, they won’t care how you dress or what your favorite TV show is.

19. You’re not stupid just because you struggled in school.

20. Vote.

21. Therapy is not accepting you are weak, it’s accepting you want to be and do better.

Whenever I’m trying to get to know a boy, I always have to remind myself not to haunt empty houses- to not put excess energy into something that gives me nothing back.

SO I developed a rule for figuring out whether a boy really wants to get to know me or not.

I give him three (3) chances to link up with me. If I ask on three separate occasions and they either have an excuse or don’t, that’s cool. I don’t get mad. However AFTER 3 shots, it’s on them to try and hang out with me.

If he doesn’t make the effort to reach out and start something, I know he really wasn’t that into me and I let it go.

And for those of you who wanna say “people get busy, don’t be angry”

I’m fucking busy too. If I put forth enough effort to try and make plans THREE times and after that you don’t extend the same courtesy? You didn’t want it anyway. You were bored. Why entertain you?
