Viral Deleter Devlog
Hello, been a bit. I've been working on getting the dialog system working, here's what i got so far (sorry the video quality is a little rough)
Dialog is place holder (obviously). You couldn't see cuz my cursor isn't visible in the video but the windows are movable by clicking and dragging with the mouse
Still need to work on some extra functions and stuff but i think its coming along super well so far!

Mini Update
Officially started work on Viral Deleter in Godot.
Didn't do much today, mainly re-familiarizing myself with the software.
Starting over from scratch in a different engine means I need to make a lot of the stuff RPG Maker handled on its own but i think it'll be worth it.
Switching Viral Deleter to a new game engine.
It's something I've been thinking about doing for a while now but some issues I've been having implementing certain ideas have pushed me to seriously consider it.
There's also a lot of assets I wanna redo and this is a good excuse to do that.
Current plan is to officially restart development in May but might also start it earlier.
I'm working on updating some tilesets and I keep looking back to this one tile.
It's just a little place holder blockade made to stop the player from going into unfinished areas but it's become one of my favorite sprites for some reason.

I also changed the colors on these plants a bit, but I'm not sure if I've shared these before so you might not know what the old ones look like.

Curse-R, a bug type enemy that inflicts status effects on the party (two on the left and right)
and Haxxer, a driver type enemy that uses powerful elemental attacks. (one in the middle)
Also did some other technical stuff like work on statuses, put together some skills, and work on some events! And i worked on some graphics, npcs, environments, stuff, some item icons.

It's a webcore inspired rpg adventure game made in RPGMaker XP.
Current name for the project is "Viral Deleter"
We've been working on it sorta on and off for at least a year now i think, but now im focusing more actively on it so i thought it would be a good idea to start making public devlogs.
Viral Deleter Devlog #1
For this first post I'll talk a bit about the player character and the first area of the game.
*name used not final and my change during development.
You play as this guy
Viral Deleter Number 3
They work for the Admins of *Network City, dealing with Bugs and Viruses and the like.
This is the first area of the game, *Network City!
It acts as a hub connecting the other areas of the game.
And thats everything i wanted to show off for right now!
Sorry if this isn't much, I haven't done a devlog like this before so I'm not sure exactly how much I should post.
But now that I've started hopefully future posts will be easier!

i was going to make a rouge like game with randomly generated characters but i realized that i really didn't like rouge likes
i did kinda get the character maker working, i might use the assets for something else later
here's one of the spite sets
they also had randomized colors instead of making one version of each body part in each palette i had something set up to change the sprites colors in game
can't quite remember how it worked, i just followed a tutorial i do remember it used the pixel's RGB value as coordinates on a texture and replaced that pixel's color with whatever color was at those coordinates
so the actually sprites looked pretty funky
this one is the actual size of the file i used in the game so it's pretty tiny and might be hard to see
here are a couple of the palette textures which are very small, only 8 by 8 pixels
it never really got that far into development, i might restart this project as a different kind of game or use the assets for something else in the future
