Ok I'm finally making a post about this I CANT COMMENT FROM THIS BLOG OR ANY OF MY SIDEBLOGS FOR SOME REASON!!! I don't know why. If you comment on a post I make I promise I am not ignoring you I am just barred from commenting and cannot respond. I am sorry.

Hey tiny mini psa: if you're watching Velvet Goldmine with *ahem* less than legal means, (allegedly) many of the available versions of the movie online are about five minutes shorter than the film actually is and clock in at about 1 hour and 58 minutes, and a lot of them also have slightly pitched up audio which is really something you'd only notice if you were as mentally ill about this movie as I am because I've seen it enough times to notice a change like that and I also have really good relative pitch and can tell that the songs are higher than normal. The songs are such an important part of the movie and I strongly believe you need to view/hear them in their original form plus if you're missing even just parts of the movie (not sure which ones are in the cut version but it's enough that the runtime is five minutes shorter) you're missing quite a lot. So if you're trying to track it down online (something I would TOTALLY NEVER condone or endorse publicly) please make sure you find a version that is 2 hours and 3 minutes because that's likely the correct one that will have the songs in their original sound <3

Seriously considering writing one of my thesis papers (I have to write two because I hate myself and double majored) on some aspect of Velvet Goldmine because I know for sure I can get 30 pages out of it easy. If anyone has an idea for an art history angle I can examine it from lmk. I'm thinking costume design for now (maybe doing a full Sandy Powell deep dive) but if I can come up with something better I'll do that instead

I do not fuck with Harry Potter anymore but I do think it's really fucking funny that two guys basically wrote post-canon gay oc fanfiction that implies Voldemort fucks and somehow got it approval to be put on and got it made into a massive 6 hour play and then they eventually retooled it and cut it down to 3 hours and somehow made it even gayer than it was originally where now it's at the point where Scorpius and Albus are just explicitly in love and are apparently even kissing each other's hands sometimes depending on the night. Like that's awesome.
