tower of god is queer, no matter what the intended meaning of that word was. its themes of loneliness, isolation, othering for reasons outside of your control are inherently queer, be it in the modern or the "weird" way. every piece of art is a reflection of the artist and a story so prevalent with them says so much about siu, either because of his childhood where his interests were shunned, his most likely "weird" personality (because lets face it, society isnt very welcoming to people who spent the last 12 years drawing twinks trying to become god), or because of some other sort of queerness he's been through. the lack of any solid biological families within the tower, the amount of found families and teams who function as a family - those are so, so familiar to queer people, but they dont necessarily have to be queer in that sense. is khuns and bams relationship based on something in sius life? was it platonic, romantic, a mixture of different encounters? as much as id love to say the codependence, the absolute devotion between them is inherently romantic, it isnt. queer people, in both senses of the word, spend most of their life discarded by others for things they cant change, so finding someone they can latch onto can lead to borderline unhealthy obsession. what they experience is so familiar to us, we want it to be romantic. but it doesnt have to be. the story is so much more complicated than that, but jesus fucking christ, just let me see them kiss. just once.
