"Mama when is grandma coming back?" I hear my 4 year old daughter say as she plops her tiny self onto the couch. I turn my attention away from the television and glances down at her with a smile. "She'll be back soon, baby girl. She went to go pick up a few things and even a new toy for her favorite girl." I say before picking her up and tickling her sides. I watched as she laughed and even began to squirm in my arms as I continued tickling her. Unfortunately, our fun had came to a stop when we hear several hard knocks at the door along with a "Ding!" A bit confused, I quickly get up from the couch while picking up my daughter who I now held against my hip and made my towards the door. I got up on my tippy toes to look through the peephole only to see two policemen standing there as they waited to be answered.
Taking a deep breath, I finally opened the door to greet the two. ”Afternoon, officers. What seems to be the problem?“ I greeted with a small smile in my face before glancing back at my daughter whose just as puzzled as I am. "Good afternoon, ma'am." One of them greeted back. "We're just here around the neighborhood to ask a few questions about the mysterious disappearance of a few from the Wotes and Amanis tribe from Club Vixen. Do you happen to be Miss Binta?" While listening to the officer speak to me, I quickly grew more worried at the fact that a large number of people from my tribe had gone missing from the club and needed to know a little bit more information. "Yes, yes. I am." I watched as the officer nodded and began to take out a note pad along with a pen. "If you were present or not would you happen to tell us what you know? Or what you can remember?" "I was present at the club, but was there for just a short amount of time since I had to hurry back home to my daughter." The officer looked up at me seeing my daughter that was on my hip looking clueless as ever. "All I remember was that there was an issue with the termites and just decided to leave so I can get home in time for my baby girl so she could see that I was safe and all." I watched the officer closely as it seems to look like he noted everything down that I said. With one final nod he finally looked at me with a smile. "Thank you, ma'am for your time. That's all we needed. We appreciate that." I nodded before returning the smile back, but before we had parted ways my daughter blurted out a "Bye!" in her tiny voice as she waves at the officers. We all had laughed and the officers both said their goodbyes before finally leaving.
