from the very beginning when i started to draw/think about them, kenny would also scold the way kid would over-apologize for every little thing so i like to think that helps kid not feel the need to sink into himself too. as for kenny possibly feeling overly responsible for kid's wellbeing, kid's initial urge to prove his own usefulness would turn into genuinely just wanting kenny to know he can rely on him too, that he doesn't have to shoulder everything himself....it's just a see-saw of emotions and feelings and not quite "solutions" or "fixes" but new perspectives...i hope that made sense (deranged eyes, rattling the bars of my enclosure)

funnily enough i got this ask twice? someone also asked if he could play an instrument😭 i never really thought about it much....he might've enjoyed karaoke or singing casually but he wouldn't be very good i don't think. his singing voice would be very flat and would break often (cute lol)

when he meets kenny, yeah! something like that! at first i thought it'd take place after the wellington ending but just recently i had the epiphany it'd actually work even better after the ending where kenny kills jane but clem leaves and goes alone with aj.....kenny's guilt, unwillingness to open up and doubts about his ability to take care of anyone anymore would be at an all time high...

maybe a few weeks later though🤔 before that, kid would have met nate sometime after the events of russell's section in 400 days. i imagine nate to have become increasingly dangerous/unhinged over time, and worse with kid who would've enabled him out of fear (the Real toxic codependent dynamic here)

first, the post strangely insinuates i had something to do with the first callout being taken down. i was approached by one of the people who contributed to it, who apologized to me. unprompted btw. they kindly told me they would try talking to the creator to take it down. if op of that post really felt harassed into deactivating, it had nothing to do with me.

op acknowledges how kid is an adult but the main issue op seems to have is the way i draw him. i am not a perfect artist, i draw him differently every time and this isn't even on purpose, i simply struggle to stay "on model". you can see this with my drawings of kenny too. hell, you can probably see it with any character i draw more than once. op just happened to fixate and choose to compare drawings of kid where they perceive him looking younger.

i'm constantly learning and changing. when i draw different characters at separate times, i'm not meticulously thinking "i need to draw character A looking older than when i drew character B that one time" i just draw.

but generally i also think he's drawn in a standard animanga style. for instance below are images of the same character from the same series, college age. the bottom image is of two characters in their 20s. i don't think they're all that different from how i draw kid's proportions

a while back, i drew this of two characters who are canonically old enough to get married and start a family. i would say they look even "younger" than how i draw kid now. it's just a style thing

when compared to kenny, the style might clash and the size difference might look bigger but like i said, it's really just a style issue (i don't want to anime-ify kenny to such a large extent). to me, they are both (fictional, consenting) adults but if someone wants to interpret something sinister or be weird about my art (like op has), i cannot control that. op just seems to dislike my art style, which is fine but to suggest "possible pedophilia" is the biggest stretch imaginable

as for kenny seeing his son in kid or treating him like a son, that's also not true. in my comic where they first meet it's supposed to be a sudden trauma response/lapse in sanity/perception the same way he accidentally calls clem duck at one point. them wearing a similar outfit is a coincidence and a trigger. op conveniently left out how in the very same comic, kid's first reaction to kenny is his mind flashing to his previous companion just because they both wear a hat. doesn't mean he sees that person in kenny throughout their relationship. it's an instant visceral reaction. sorry i didn't spell it out for everyone

i said it before but kid is not literal. his name being elusive is part of the character. you can call him anything (dude, buddy, pal, boy, man, whatever). i started referring to him as kid early on and stuck to it for consistency. honestly, i thought it was like.......a fairly common term. kenny calls nick kid at some point i'm pretty sure. uh i'm literally watching peacemaker rn and an older male figure calls another grown woman kid too. again, people choosing to interpret this weirdly is out of my control.

also i know it's not everyone's thing but i didn't know enjoying whump was considered evil now. many people put their ocs through torture and terrible things, isn't it a running joke for many online? there are concerns about power imbalances with age gap relationships, yes, but this is strictly fictional. i have had it quite clearly stated in my strawpage that i draw fictional age gap and to block me if it makes you uncomfortable

anyway i just think it's very odd to police the way i draw and ship a character that doesn't even exist outside of my imagination. arguing what he is or isn't when the only person he's "canon" to is myself. i don't want people to see him as a child but for some reason, people like op really, really do.
