(This person's vampfrin AU specifically)
> Vulture would be half the age of Merc at the youngest, a few years younger than him at the oldest
> Disconnected from all kindred, raised by human parent while the kindred ran off because Gestures to how they're treated by society
> Raised socially as, and legally is, a half elf. Taught to keep actual species a secret, even to their closest friends and/or romantic partners, has successfully done as such
> Admires Merc even more due to his heritage, and how success he is despite it all
> Sickly before being hired due to limited access to blood, and often would have to go for random corpses nobody immediately took care of, either lives in an area with free medical or was in bad medical debt from illnesses + being fucked up by probable drugs & alcohol (if not outright poison in worse case scenarios)
> Once hired, would primarily do "make this person vanish" jobs for Merc (after smth, explain later), gets blood that way- Becomes significantly healthier thanks to doing so, between being able to feed until full + most of these folks being wealthy and healthy (drugs may probably still be a problem, but def less of an issue than before)
> Mercury without a doubt clocks how much healthier Vulture got after getting assassin jobs, and how Vulture refuses to ever show its wings (like himself, but the Gets Healthier part makes the latter suspicious)
> Considering how stupidly loyal Vulture is, being willing to drop anything and everything (as if there's anything else going on) if Mercury requests it, and does their job well, knowing if Vulture is one of if not the most hated species in Miraland is kinda important for the sake of not losing this highly efficient freak to some mistake. Gotta know what you're hiding to hide it, and asking Vulture upfront almost certainly still gets denial, so...
> (Let me have this please) Merc shows up in person when/where he knows Vulture is disposing of someone for him, and what do you know his highly efficient freak is a kindred. Alwayssss a catch with 'em one way or another.
> Vulture is reasonably freaked the fuck out until Merc causally tells him to finish so that they can discuss details afterwards
> Vulture is a wreck between "I've been found out as a kindred, and even if I'm not immediately being fired on the spot this is fucking TERRIFYING" and "ohmugldmercuryyiswatchingme", all-around being a disaster and taking longer than usual to handle the corpse
> After this event, officially becomes Merc's "right hand" here instead of after that party, and gets more assassination jobs than before since Vulture is good at them + for the sake of "up keeping" his freak who'll do anything, anytime, no hesitation for him
> As his "right hand", the two talk...A bit more than other employees on average. Perhaps Merc begins to experience emotional attachment for the first time since he was a kid thanks to this. Who knows.
> Platonic, romantic, situationship VulMerc, take your pick. I'd say QPP also but these people do NOT know that term or would use it I think. (Not that explicit romance is much more likely tbf but at least the terms have existed in Miraland MUCH longer than these two have been alive for, fuck knows how the history of QPPs translates to Miraland...)
> I just need eventually for Vulture to feed on Mercury at some point. It's a legal obligation. I Gotta.
