“My mom might throw a parade if we asked her to take them for the weekend. I’m pretty sure she’d be more excited about that then anything I’ve ever done.”

“I know your mom loves you but honestly I think we all know that we all come second to the grandkids.”

“I don’t know if they’d remember a trip, but it would be fun. And maybe this weekend my mom or Parker could watch the boys so we can go out.”

“They might not, but we would and that’s what matters,” He reminded her. “I’m sure your mom would love taking them for the weekend.”

“I think date night sounds perfect.” Cassie smiled, “and then we should do family night with the boys this week sometime. Even if it’s just dinner and watching cartoons.”

“I was thinking maybe take the boys to the zoo? I think they’re old enough to understand cute animals at least. I just know I need a date night with the most beautiful woman, and a family night with the kids.”

“I know, I’m sorry.” Cassie sighed, wrapping her arms around his waist. “But I’m all yours now.”

“I was thinking we need to give the boys to your mom for a night so we can have a date night, and maybe do a family with them.”

“I’m okay.” Cassie shrugged, wrapping an arm around him. “I can’t really complain, today’s been uneventful. How are you doing?”

“A little tired and missing my girl,” He admitted leaning in to kiss the side of her head, “You’ve been so busy.”

“I’ve seen one or two around.”

“I only care about one though,” Axel admitted as he slid his arm around her waist to pull her towards him, “How’s my favorite girl?”

“Then maybe you should stop while you’re ahead and save me having to say it.”

“But I want you and the boys to have a good Christmas this year, babe.”

“How long ago did you start?”

“If I tell you that you’re just going to make me stop.”

“We have two boys to shop for, we’ve got to start early to afford it. So no, it’s really not.”

“I may have already started for them,” Axel admitted as casually as he could.”

“You are my family.” She promised, wrapping her arms around him. “I know that’s not changing.”

“My family’s opinion would be nice, but I know that’s asking too much.” She admitted, shrugging and trying not to let it get to her. “I love you too.”

“I’m not perfect to anyone but you.” Cassie said quietly, shrugging weakly, “I accepted it a really long time ago, Axe, it’s fine.”

“Please don’t joke about it. I’m…I’m pretty sure my ex was cheating. I’d never do that.”
