Spiderman: Brand New Day was actually a 2 hour documentary on how repressing your emotions will fucking kill you

ilya and shane are hosting at their home for the first time after the wedding. this was always a dream for them, being together around all of their friends. at some point in the night they disappear after shane says he’s going to grab something from the pantry and ilya follows him not long after. their friends start discussing “they’re definitely fucking in there” one of the wags says and hayden tries to defend his friend “shane and ilya have never done anything like that around other people” and harris goes “but they’re at their house and it’s gigantic here, no one will hear them wherever they are” and wyatt goes “who wants to bet they’re fucking?” and everyone agrees to the bet but it’s 50/50, half of them agreeing with hayden and saying they’d never do something like that with people around and the other half saying they’re freaks. so everyone picks luca haas to go look for them because if ilya and shane catch him they won’t be mad at the rookie. luca goes looking for them and when he approaches the pantry he hears ilya’s exasperated voice going “no shane, listen, you want to know what she said to me? the audacity...” and luca stops going further and just turns around and goes back to the rest of the group and says “they’re just gossiping, i think they lost track of time” and half of them groan while hayden cheers going “i told you guys”. sometimes shane needs to step back to recharge his social battery and ilya goes with him to keep him company because even when he’s overwhelmed, shane still wants ilya there with him.

Funniest part of Brand New Day was Peter going around introducing himself with fake names as if anyone's gonna know who Peter Parker is anyway

the peter & frank duo was one of the best parts of the movie i'm crying i love them they're so stupid

if you zoom in on ned then spider-man brand new day is literally like what if you felt your heart reaching out for another person so fondly and fiercely that you build an app that connects millions of people just so you can know where he's been and you want to find out who he is behind his many masks just so you can say thank you (and be safe and i love you) and you have a secret handshake in the well of your memory and a lego figurine on your desk and there's another aspect of those memories that your mind can't really hold onto but you keep trying to build a life around those empty spaces and then one day you're eating a sandwich and a man tells you his name and oh.... how could you ever have forgotten your best friend?

One thing I love about Brand New Day is that Peter really does feel older. He's not a teenager anymore, he's an adult and an adult who has had to be entirely self-sufficient. And you feel that in the way he carries himself and the way he interacts with other characters, especially the detective and Frank.

People complaining about Peters tech being too high tech in brand new day like the movie aint set in 2028 in a world that had a man in a flying metal suit in 2008, artificial intelligence in 2015, and drones that could create life like illusions in 2024 that stuff is probably low quality tech in their world, not to mention Peter's a genius who was literally introduced as a dumpster diver in his first appearance
