Sebastian is a rebellious loner who lives in his parents’ basement. he feels like his sister gets all the attention   &   adoration, while he is left to rot in the dark. he tends to get deeply absorbed in computer games, comic books,   &   sci-fi novels. he can be a bit unfriendly to people he doesn’t know. could a charming new comer cultivate the wasteland of his heart ?

            ʀᴇ: SEBASTIAN (4:28 pm)                         → the city is p nice. it’s too quiet here sometimes.                → expensive af tho.                → u can see it but u gotta come here. come to the farm, coward.

              ʀᴇ: SEBASTIAN (4:28 pm)                            → u wanna work for joja as an accountant, be my guest, seb                 → budget spreadsheets for the farm, seed spreadsheets by season, and i’m working on one for how many eggs my chickens and ducks produce.

               ʀᴇ: SEBASTIAN (4:20 pm)                               → it was either come back here or face a lifetime in a career i was no longer enjoying and burning out by 30                             → so here i am                             → still doing spreadsheets and stuff, but for myself instead of capitalism.

          ʀᴇ: SEBASTIAN (4:10 pm)            → i’m not fighty!            → i just punch people who should be punched.           → it just so happens that demetrius needs to be punched.           → so does lewis, now that i’m thinking about it. and pierre. who closes on wednesdays?????           → a weak man is what.

      ʀᴇ: SEBASTIAN (4:00 pm)             → so catch me about to fight demetrius.             → you can have another frog if this one lays eggs and i will actually destroy demetrius if he makes you get rid of it              → i swear to yoba-             → fuck it tell him to square up i’m gonna kick his ass             → i got 12 acres of land and a bone to pick

It was a perfectly quaint little festival. Nothing quite as impressive as the ones back in the city–packed for blocks with vendors, live music ringing out late into the night, and the rich scent of every kind of festival food imaginable blending together from stall to stall into a cacophony of delicious smells. They seemed to have a different one almost every week up in Zuzu, once the weather started warming up. Hazel had always enjoyed strolling through them.

This was… fine?

Completely fine. Respectable, even! The weather was lovely, the little town square was decked out to the nines, and Hazel certainly–certainly–would never object to a proper deviled egg. But given the way Mayor Lewis had talked it up, Hazel was mildly… underwhelmed. 

“So, is, ah…”

He glanced in the direction of the sullen-looking fellow nearest him. The carpenter’s boy, if Hazel recalled, though Ms. Robin and her family didn’t come to Sunday services and he’d not yet met them properly. 

“… is this… everybody? I mean… everybody in town?” 

          foreigners were rare, even those who were newer to the town eventually evened out their accents to something more palatable. though between Sebastian's infrequent travel, he's really only familiar with the sound of the city, so the more this stranger   --   Hazel   --   talks, the more Sebastian ends up squinting as though he could read the words spilling out of his very country mouth.

          " y-yeah, sorry, "   his response is delayed, like each letter had to pass through a subtle translator. Sebastian laughs, almost in awe.   " your accent's worst than ours, "   he jokes, not being able to count the amount of times he's had to repeat himself in the city.

“Don’t worry ‘bout it. Kids’ll do stuff like that all the time,” replied Mat. In fact, Joseph’s twins were right around that age, and they caused mischief wherever they went. “I’ll just. Um. Replace it.”

The barista lowered his chin and looked at the newcomer over his glasses. “One, uh. Biggies Smalls-size Smashing Pumpkin Spice Latte coming up. Your name?”

         Sebastian went to answer, inhaled   &   poised his mouth but before any sound could be made, Cameron leaned forward   &   slapped his little hands on the counter.

         “ daddy’s name is, S   --   Suh, Sevastyan ! ”   the child mispronounced with a grin before pushing himself back up;   he pointed at himself with his thumb   &   proclaimed:   “ &   my name is Cameron ! ” 

         Sebastian chuckled apologetically with a guilty glance at the barista as he shifted Cameron on his hip.   “ i guess we’re talkative today, ”   he joked, directed at both his son   &   the man.   “ Sebastian, ”   he clarified with a nod as Cameron began to babble about wanting apple juice before wiggling his way out of Sebastian’s arms   --   presumably to go get a juice from the shop’s self-serve fridge.

     Winnie didn’t come to the saloon very often– both because she didn’t drink (which seemed to be the townsfolk’s favorite pastime around these parts), and also because her work on the farm kept her rather busy most of the time. However, whenever she did get the chance to stop by, there were always two constants; Pam and Shane being… Well, themselves. And Sebastian crushing Sam at pool. 

     ❛ How are you so good at that? ❜ Winnie asked him, looking on in awe as he effortlessly sent the cue ball rolling in exactly the right direction and angle every time. 

          the sound of heavy resin balls clacking against each other like thunder echoed briefly against the rock-n-panel wallseach time Sebastian took aim. he didn’t miss, even when Abby took to distracting him or when Sam inevitably lost his concentration   &   starting rambling on about this, that,   &   the other. tonight was a little different from usual though   --   out the corner of his eye, Sebastian noticed the new farmer girl looming by the doorway;   it made him a little more shaky than usual, but even if he had his eyes closed he’d still kick Sam’s ass.

         “ 2-0, ”   Sebastian smiled at Sam who slumped a little in defeat before grinning back   --   a pause followed   &   the girl spoke up as the round finished.

       ʀᴇ: SEBASTIAN (4:00 pm)              → wait he did WHAT              → i’m gonna throw hands, i’m gonna come over there right now and beat him up, that’s  RUDE, i GAVE YOU THAT FROG.              → also i can’t help that frogs just feel safe w me.              → icb.. i’m gonna scream. you can definitely have one if she has eggs.
