My take on Togore's role in Undertale
I usually tend to think more about Togore's life in Deltarune, but he is intriguing to explore in the Undertale timeline as well. I like to believe that as a child, he got somewhat passively along with Asriel and was close friends with Chester. According to the Undertale 10th year anniversary livestream, the Holidays likely lived in Snowdin, and I like to think that Togore and Chester used to meet up there to make snow monsters together. Unfortunately, I am also a believer that Chester dies no matter what in the Undertale timeline and does not get to grow up due to that.
When Chara fell down, this also brought a new layer of strange into Togore's life. Despite being a child himself, he was painfully aware of the war between monsters and humans, as well as its aftermath and consequences, so when Asriel brought a human child home, he stood back and observed. Ironically, this caused Chara and Togore to have this sort of mutual respect for one another. Chara was obviously closer to Asriel, and they both played a lot together. But the times Chara and Togore shared weren’t any less important to either of them. Those were quieter moments, intertwined with a mutual respect. Never did Togore push Chara's boundaries, and never did they his. Just because they didn’t loudly play together doesn’t mean they didn’t love eachother. I am a firm believer that they did. It was just a different relationship than the one Asriel had with Chara. Less explicit, much calmer. Strangely, this seemingly distant relationship was what they both needed, a mutual unspoken understanding of some kind. On top of this, Chara spending more time with Asriel did allow Togore some more peace, and deepened his affection for his new sibling.
After the tragedy unveiled, Togore was left lonely and heartbroken. Over the years, he had lost Asriel, Chara and Chester, Toriel hid away in the ruins and Asgore focused on his mission to collect human souls. Originally, Togore was to live with Toriel, but this all was too much for him, and he fled. By the time Frisk falls down, Togore has become a wanderer. Still the silent observer he once was, walking through Waterfall, or Mettaton’s Resort. Sometimes visiting Snowdin yet again, with tearfilled eyes, as the memories he attaches to those places get further and further distant.
