Hammer Away || Bucky and Janet
The building is coming down around them. But the assassin seems to know the shortest way out and his grip on her hand is too strong to break free in any case. She barely has time to register the sharp pain from his grasp as she leaps over a fallen lamp.Â
They reach what looks like an exit, and he obviously doesnât have the key. Before she has time to register his threat, heâs let go of her hand and is breaking down the door. Where would I go? Back into the collapsing building? She shakes her hand, trying to sort if heâs actually broken it or not. This guy is lucky I canât shrink right now. She glares at his back.Â
Blinking at the sunlight a thought occurs- does my sting work at full size? Well there was a first time for everything. She dove past him, wanting to clear the building and put some distance between them. As soon as she was outside she whirled around and aimed a blast, low - not wanting to kill him accidentally.Â
James reaches for her, but she dove passed him too quickly. He grits his teeth, aiming his gun and shooting on instinct, forgetting that it has no bullets left. The click of the guns sounds as she faces him and aims some sort of blast at him.
He falters and gasps, the surge of pain gripping his limbs. His metal arm spazzes, whirring uncontrollably, must have been some sort of electric blast. The ground shakes beneath him, the building really coming down now. He needs to get through the door before itâs too late.
âUuh.â James makes a noise of pain, but manages to stay on his feet. He takes a shaky step, then with the last of his strength, aims his body towards the women. The Winter Soldier doesnât fail his missions, he canât let her get away. The pain is harsh, but his handlers are harsher. He canât fail, he doesnât want to go back to the chair.
She whirls around, not wanting a knife in the back. Plus she still wanted answers from this guy. She couldnât leave with nothing. And hey! It looked like her blast did work at full size. And boy was it a doozy. Even though sheâd aimed low, he still looked pretty dazed.Â
In fact it looked like he wasnât going to make it out of the building. God dammit. She sprinted forward, reaching to grab his arm and pull him out of the doorway. She couldnât be responsible for his death, even if he was a terrorist.Â
