How do you get Hillary Clinton’s attention? Nail art is one way to do it. A supporter of Clinton’s campaign, Ava Rose Donaldson, just Instagrammed original nail art featuring Beyoncé’s “Run the World (Girls)” song lyrics and the 2016 presidential candidate in her signature blue pantsuit — and, to her surprise, three hours later, Clinton herself re-grammed and Snapchatted the nail art photo. “I was planning to go to this Hillary rally in Connecticut on Friday with my mom,” Donaldson tells Yahoo Beauty. “I thought, if I get this manicure, maybe I’ll get her attention and get to take a photo with her.”

Donaldson, who also helps run Hannah Bronfman’s fitness website HBFit, has been working exclusively with New York-based nail artist Mei Kawajiri every three weeks. Kawajiri uses Gelish gel polish on Donaldson’s nails to create lasting and vibrant nail art — prior designs include Salt-N-Pepa lyrics, The Muppets, and Andy Warhol’s “Banana Split.” Donaldson came into Kawajiri’s salon with the intention of combining Beyoncé lyrics with an image of Clinton, and Kawajiri turned it into a graphic cartoon. “I chose the pantsuit image because it’s so quintessentially Hillary.” The superstar singer was photographed publicly at a Clinton fundraiser in May, though we’ve yet to see if Queen Bey is also declaring her political alliances out loud on her nails.

For 23-year-old Donaldson, this is the first time she will be old enough to support Clinton’s campaign with her vote. (In 2008, she was still in high school.) “I really hope this means I get to meet Hillary now!” she says. Listen up, Millennials: no need to donate thousands of dollars to get Clinton’s attention — the power of nail art and social media seems to be working, too.
