🪞do you have any appearance hcs for them?

I have so many visual headcanons for Ivan, he's been the main focus of my blorbo beam for a long time! Some prominent ones are: - He has the droopy, sleepy eyes and very lovely lashes. The outer corner is downward tilting. Kinda slutty lowkey - He has the intense facial scarring from WWI. Starts just under his chin, up over the right side of his face, over his eye, and up to his hairline. This he can cover with mild magic (most nations have it) and usually makes it look less intense, but it takes a lot of energy. - BIG BOY. He was always lanky and tall (about 6'4 and slim), but when he became the representative of the Soviet Union, he bulked up A LOT and grew about a foot. It was painful and in a relatively short timeframe though, so to this day he has a lot of stretch marks around his arms and legs. - The eye with his scar over it is more red; during the Soviet Union, he had much more reddish eyes compared to his usual lavender-gray. The scarred eye never changed back to his original eye colour.

HELLO! 👎a pet peeve you have about the portrayal of this character (in canon or fanon)? Honestly, I've sort of hated the "innocent" Russia trope. I think there's a tendency to lean into that trope where they play up the innocence of his character like how it's portrayed in the anime when he's very young. Like he doesn't understand the consequences of his actions, or doesn't understand why people don't want to be his friend, or are just overall uneasy around him, even when he's written as an adult.

In my opinion he is very aware of the affect he has on people, and most of the time I figure he almost just likes making people antsy to watch them squirm, so he plays a little dumb. When I read fics where he genuinely seems at a loss for why he's treated as a threat, I have a hard time finishing them sometimes! But it's a small pet peeve. I think it's mostly older fandom stuff where it's most prominent.

🏛️what's your favourite time period to put them in? I've always found a lot of interest in the more recent era, like 1800s-1950s! In my headcanon, it's when he changed physically the most. He was only a young adult until the Russian Revolution, then he really started bulking up and aging more. It's interesting exploring how his relationships changed then as well, developed over time.

🌌what's your favourite au you've put them in? Oooh I've had a few. They're older now, but I enjoyed one where he represents Betelgeuse instead of a nation! (Below are doodles of him as a young star and as a red giant!)
