A lot of people don't seem to know this but you need to wash your reusable water bottles, especially if they're plastic. Yes, even if you only put plain water in them and nothing else. They can and will accumulate bacteria, mold, and other microorganisms that you'll end up drinking. If you don't wash your water bottle regularly (at least once a week, more often if it's plastic or if you use it frequently), then there's a very good guarantee that the inside is slimy to the touch (biofilm) or there's mold accumulation around the inside of the lid and in the straw if you have one.

Also buy a straw brush and wash your straws thoroughly every time you wash the bottle.
