Tell me it's raining.

As I am on the phone with the dispatcher, I hear retreating footsteps in those rocks. My cat, on high alert, then stares at my apartment door. I hear rustling on the stairwell steps, then something HITS my front door. I look out of the peephole, telling the dispatcher what I am hearing. I don't see anything, but I continue to hear something at my door. I'm picturing someone crouching below the peephole. Finally, the cop knocks on my door. I disconnect with the dispatcher and open the door. "I think he wants to come inside, ma'am." The cop points down, there is a HUGE turtle on my doormat. I called the cops...on a fucking turtle.

So the theory the cop and I came up with is that the turtle, for some odd reason, was in the rocks in front of my window. As he was crawling, his shell was hitting the window. Then, he came to the top of the stairwell and fell down the steps. Clamped in his shell, he bounced several times down the steps and was launched into my apartment door. Water and wet grass trail confirmed the theory.
