I mean…I can’t blame anyone for not wanting to come out in the forces. You got a joke tattooed? This is going to be fucking genius or end with me dragging your ass to fix shit. C’mon then, little miss sergeant kick ass, what’s this joke of yours?

I had that used as a threat before my parents. That the second I turned 18 they’d enlist me just to get shot of me, but then they also threatened to send my ass to boot camp but no one kept me long enough to ever make good on that threat. If it weren’t for my parents, I probably would’ve signed my ass up, that or I’d be strung out somewhere.

That’s no good. I’m not a fan of gyms that are miles away, it ends up being a hassle and stressful and just takes away from it. Send me your email and I’ll send you a handle of gyms that are close by. I’ll include their quiet periods as well, I know sometimes you just need to get your sweat on and to clear your head and that’s hard to do in a full gym sometimes. 

I need someplace close to home that I can go to in the evenings, after I’e put Remy and Case to bed, and isn’t so far that if I get a call or text from Logan that something has happened, I can’t be home in under 10 minutes. You are amazing, thank you.

You mean besides being Eli’s Mama? 

Besides running around after our little cub, I’m a personal trainer and physiotherapist. At least for the time being. I happen to know a few good gyms, it all depends on what it is you’re looking for in a gym. 

Yes, besides that.

I can’t even begin to imagine what it was like. I still remember coming out to my dad and I fucking terrified, though to be fair my stupid ass outed myself for kicking that little shits ass in the first place. But to do it with all these people that have always been told that queerness has no place in the forces and then for the rules to change, it must’ve been tough. 

One day, these kids will realise how fucking lucky they are to have you. 

It’s amazing. Not the advancement in technology or any of that, but the way you look at it. It’s admirable. 

We joked a little more openly, between ourselves, but some of us just didn’t come out unless we had a reason to. Which, I can’t blame any of us for that. I got the best joke I ever made tattooed, actually, and then used it to come out to a number of people. To this day, I haven’t made a better joke.

sometimes a week is really long but little moments like this can make it all worth it. knowing i got to spend the night with her and wake up to her still here. the thing about waking up early is that i often get to see the world as the day is just beginning. just before the night has burned away. when she’s still asleep. when the kids are, if not still asleep, at least quiet. when everything is peaceful.
