Carer who accidentally raises their voice at their kiddo.
They didnβt mean to. They would never mean to. But they were stressed out and kiddo had spilled something, typically not a big deal. But today they reacted without thinking, sending their little one running out of the room and looking for a place to hide. They find them eventually, camped out in a pillow fort they made together the night before, curled up and sniffling softly.
βHey little love.β Carer whispers, inching closer and placing a soft hand on their arm. βI didnβt mean to yell at you. Youβre so small when youβre like this, I know you didnβt mean it.β
No answer. Just more sniffles and soft whines.
βIβm really sorry, bug. Everyone makes mistakes, I made one by yelling. Please forgive me? I know you donβt like loud voices.β Theyβre pleading at this point, their heart breaking watching their tiny cry and knowing itβs their fault.
It takes a few minutes but eventually their kiddo is in their lap, sucking on a paci and wiping their eyes on carerβs shirt.
βI donβt like when you yellβ¦βitβs muffled by the pacifier but still audible. βI didnβt mean to knock it over.β
βI know. Itβs okay, I cleaned it up. It was an easy clean up. This one is much harder though. How can I make it up to you hm?β
Little thinks for a minute before looking up with big wet eyes.
βWill you watch a show with me? I know youβreβ¦ummβ¦stressed? So maybeβ¦maybe you can come relax with me?β
Carer smiles, kissing their head.
βThatβs a good idea, bug. Cmon letβs go wind down together.β
Because even carers arenβt perfect and sometimes mess up. And thatβs okay! They donβt need to be perfect. They just need to be there!!
