You can’t tell me that stupid old man who pretends to not care about anyone or anything and has probably called Valentines’ a scam from the government isn’t sometimes a cheesy romantic who uses science to make stupidly big romantic gestures for Morty that go way over the top

As far as they were concerned Morty was a loser virgin with no game so who the hell was he hooking up with enough times to get pregnant? Didn’t they teach him about safe sex? Nevermind the fact neither Beth nor Jerry will admit they never really gave him the talk because again, who the hell would get with Morty? And they all knew he watched enough porn to fill in the gaps.

It got to a point where Morty’s secrecy about the other parent was worrying them. At one point they tried to have an intervention to pull the information out of him. Summer even asked him if the making of the baby was… optional. They didn’t get anywhere with that and Morty seemed pretty offended at the implication so they thankfully scratched that possibility off the list.

After that they didn’t really try to pry it out of him anymore, they just prepared the best they could for the upcoming birth and tried not to feel weird about their 14 year old son’s enthusiasm about being a single parent.

They didn’t notice how as the months crept by and the due date came closer Rick was showing more and more concern (in his own way) and constantly hovering over the boy which he would vehemently deny if asked.

When it was time for the birth of the baby Rick was quick to take control of getting everything his grandson needed and comforting him in his classic uncaring Rick way. He acted detached but his actions showed he felt otherwise though no one understood why. They just assumed it was because Morty was his sidekick or some dumb shit.

It was several hours of a hard labor. Rick offered something to make the pain basically nonexistent but Morty refused.

The baby came out small and wrinkly with a head full of hair… curly blue hair.

“Wow he uh… look a bit like dad huh?” Beth said.

“Oh yeah I guess he kinda does, ya know how genes are, even Morty kinda has my nose.” Rock answered.

Which was true, Morty did in fact have a nose more similar to his grandfather’s than either of his own parents.

They didn’t ask any questions after that. Just watched as the baby grew over the next few months. Morty did a pretty decent job parenting, and weirdly Rick did too. He was pretty active in his great grandson’s upbringing as he grew up to look more and more like his great grandfather.
