Your recent drawing basically comparing Regulus and Sirius made me think of an AU where Harry is raised by Regulus, because Regulus is Sirius's brother and can somehow claim guardianship of Harry but also is still a Death Eater

Ooooh my god this has taken over my mind. I love this idea so much. There are so many ways it could go.

The way I’m imagining it, Regulus figures out that Harry is a Horcrux pretty early on. He’s raising Harry and trying to resurrect Voldemort, and doing a lowkey bad job at both (bc I love cringefail loser Reggie.) Indoctrinating Harry into pureblood ideology, raising him to be a perfect little death eater and aristocrat, all that sort of thing. Harry though, proves in canon to be capable of turning out as a kind and decently well adjusted person despite being raised in horrific circumstances, and I think the same would be true here. He spouts pureblood ideology, but then when called out about it goes, ‘huh, maybe I’m wrong?’ and starts to kind of deconstruct the second he goes to Hogwarts (although I do imagine him as a Slytherin. Poor Snape lol.) He still keeps up appearances around Regulus though, until on fifth year he says ‘fuck it’ and starts rebelling. Regulus is already struggling with the idea of Harry dying, but is unable to get over his love of Voldemort.

I imagine Harry in this AU to have some of his fundamental personality traits; he’s kind of quiet, doesn’t enjoy being the center of attention, is very strong-willed and difficult to manipulate, but since he wasn’t raised by the Dursleys in that situation, he’s more confident and harsh. He’s also much more knowledgeable about magic, but does go into Hogwarts with a very warped worldview.
