Lilly sighed heavily but let Adam wrap his arms around her anyway, she looked towards the ground chewing on her lower lip. “It wasn’t insensitive, it’s what everyone thinks when they find out what I am.” She said in barely a whisper as she finally looks over to him. “It’s not your fault, it’s who I am..” She frowned.

Adam shook his head vehemently. “No, it is my fault. You’re not just a demon, you’re beautiful beyond belief, you’re kind, and caring. I don’t think of you as just a demon, and I never will. I promise.”

Lilly had no clue to why this idea suddenly came into Adam’s head but she was truly terrified seeing him so high up in the air, acting as if he was standing on a two foot wall. “Have you lost you mind or something?” She called back up to him but she guessed that her voice wouldn’t even reach him.

Adam grinned wide, taking her hand in his. He guided Lilly’s hand over a section of his spine in his lower back. “It’s called an Icarus implant. Anything higher than about 15 feet and it kicks in.”

Lilly rolled her eyes st his reaction but she could help but smile along with him, it was hard not to when she saw him looking so pleased and happy with himself. “You could of told me about the implant before you jumped.”

Adam nodded and led her through the building, into the elevator. As soon as the doors closed, he picked her up against the wall, kissing Lilly passionately with her legs wrapped around him. The elevator ride felt much longer than it actually was.

Lilly followed along behind Adam, keeping hold of his hand as he leads the way to the elevator. She wasn’t expecting to be pinned against the wall but didn’t complain at all and smirked against his lips.

Adam gave her a quick kiss for luck before leaping off the roof with Lilly held tightly to his chest. After the briefest of moments, orange energy crackled to life around their feet, like tangerine lightning. Their descent slowed to a crawl, and they met the ground smoothly.

When Adam stepped off the roof a rush of excited went through Lilly, she had never felt so free before in her whole entire life, for a brief as the moment was, it felt as if she was flying and she loved it.

Adam picked Lilly up by her hands, slinging her around to his back for a piggyback ride. “Good, being stuck with you is the best thing that’s happened to me all year.”

Adam shrugged, inadvertently bouncing Lilly as he did. “I suppose so. I’ll have to tell you all about it over a drink sometime, I had a few adventures.”

Should we drink at home or in public tonight? -Sophia

Adam pretended to deeply contemplate the question. “Big.”

Adam smiled back. “Rain is relaxing as hell, sounds good.”

Sophia sat on the large porch swing and patted the cushion next to her, ‘Sit,” she happily sipped from her glass watching the vast garden getting soaked in warm rain. 

Adam nodded, taking another drink. The glass was half full now. “Can’t say I’ve ever thought highly of your father, but keeping you safe like this, I’m warming up.”

She stared at Adam, not wanting to miss any move he might make. “Mae,” she said dryly, cursing her inability to lie. “And if this isn’t a kidnapping, I suggest you uncuff me and let me go? I don’t care one bit for being here.”

Adam ignored her request to leave, no point in acknowledging something that wouldn’t happen. “I’ve seen plenty of sleight of hand in my life, what you showed was something else entirely.”

Mae watched his hand carefully, a quiet ‘ew’ escaping when his fingers bent in all the wrong directions. “That’s super freaky man, but I don’t know what to tell you,” she said, her eyes still transfixed on the metal hand.

Adam’s eyes narrowed, his jaw tightened as he bit down on a wave of anger. The glove went back on. “It’s a prosthetic arm, don’t be an asshole.”

Adam started on the sausage next, enjoying the aroma before taking a bite. “Not rude at all, it does. Almost every innovation these days is meant to cut corners, old ways of doing things are still taught, but few and far between.”

Adam checked his phone again, still no response from Lilly. He knew she’d like to check out the carnival again, but she was most likely just busy. Still, Adam walked the grounds with a pit in his stomach. His fears were justified when he came across the freak show, a crowd dispersed from an iron cage with a scantily clad girl inside, Lilly looked miserable. Tomatoes had been thrown, along with eggs and other trash. Adam bit down on his anger and knocked on the bars with his metal knuckles.

The feeling of Adam’s hands along her skin was pure heavenly, pressing herself up against his body as she moves her arm behind herself, caressing along his body as much as she could. A short sharp moan passes her lips as she feeling him teasing her nipple.

Adam continued to leave bite marks along Lilly’s neck, pressing against her from behind. The height difference let him lean down to her just a bit, his hardness pressing insistently against her lower back. The water ran over the two lovers as Adam continued to tease her nipples, smiling against her neck each time a moan escaped her Lilly’s lips.

Lilly turns herself around in his embrace, her hands trailing along his now wet chest and stomach, feeling along every muscle and detail of his body. She really couldn’t get enough of him, she thought he was amazing and brilliant in every single way.

Adam kissed her deeply, smiling into her lips. “I guess I’ll just have to convince you then.”

“Got it,” she turned quickly down one road, it was a ten minute dead shot to the manor. A bit of a drive, but whoever was after him wouldn’t expect it. 

Adam mumbled, eyes fluttering. His head lolled to one side. “Not crazy, I work in private security...”

The blast was deafening, Sophia’s ears rang and she felt dizzy collapsing onto the floor. Faintly she could hear Adam’s scream that was swallowed by black smoke, gagging on the stench she didn’t even notice the other man till he picked her up. Dread and adrenaline overcame her.

Adam woke to immense pain, face down in the sewer. He pushed himself up off the concrete, something hard brushed against his teeth. With a careful hand he reached up to his cheek, where a shard of metal had lodged from the blast.
