location: Just down the street from the Butchery Open! @thefaultstarters
Like a good boy, Sid had dropped the old mustang of at the Butchery, got paid well for his trouble, and had walked the almost half mile back to his bike, parked on a double yellow outside a neat white row of cafes and shops. He had his sunnies perched high on his nose, but they never did sit quite right anymore, not after the surgery. He thumbs through the bills, cause he's a cash only kinda guy, and counts that shit twice. The bills are folded neatly into a little ridge, and tucked down deep into the front pocket of his jeans.
Sid wonders if it's too late for breakfast, and was this technically lunch time. He glances at the old Rolex on his wrist, the face so scratched he can barely see the second hand ticking. A coffee would be good. A bagel would be even better. Frowning to himself and debating the pros and cons of a balanced breakfast, Sid throws one long leg over the saddle of his bike and reclines forward onto the T-bone. He's about to start digging for his phone, when he spots them. Straightening slightly, Sid grins and inclines his head toward them.
"Lookin' a lil' lost-" he calls, accent thick and curling. A old timey, distinct Brooklyn drawl. "-all the good shit in town is thata'way-" he inclines over his shoulder with a tatted hand, though the gesture is vauge at best.
"Um...yea. I guess. I was meeting someone and took a wrong turn, man. That was a few minutes ago and well, I'm stuck." One of the wheels on his chair got stuck in a crack in the sidewalk. He had been stuck for a bit. People passed by, but being as stubborn as he was sometimes, Cassidy thought he could get out without help. That was a mistake on his part and now he didn't know if he'd ever get out.
"I don't want trouble. I was just literally walking here and," he squints his eyes, looking at the other man. "I'm asking for help. Others came by, but I refused help. But...can you help me get unstuck?"

there was something about teenagers that sure made him glad he wasn't one anymore. maybe he was getting too old for their sense of humor but nothing was funny or humorous about those disabled. maybe once upon a time he'd have found slight humor in their comments but kai was a different person back then, more anger fueled. a kid who didn't know the world just yet. like them. " kids are fucking idiots sometimes. " he says with conviction as he sits next to cassidy. " you good, man? "
@cassieswhits .
it was weird feeling dizzy despite not being able to walk well. it's been years since his accident and many times he's gotten bullied. funny enough, he almost became used to kids or even adults making him a target of theirs. today, it was teenagers who first took his wheelchair from him before forcing him back in to only spin him around. it was like being on a merry-go-round he couldn't get off of. he hated feeling so ... dizzy. but then finally, they had stopped spinning him and instead used their words that he was able to ignore. luckily they left him near a table. so his fingers cling to it while he's trying to calm his nerves. "...yea. they are." he breathes out, remembering this is the reason why he rarely socializes. "i'm good. i'm good. just...shaken up, man. that was intense."

“so,” nico starts, “i should’ve maybe asked before i spontaneously decided to plan this. look in hindsight, it sounded neat. exploring the ocean life safely inside? i mean..” he chuckled and looks at cassie. “you’re not deadly afraid of marine life, are you? if you are we can totally hit up another place.”
"i like spontaneous adventures!" he can't help letting his voice get a little pitchy. he loves going to the aquarium when he had the free time. it was something he enjoyed since he was a child. "thank you for planning this out for us. it really is super cool to be here. i haven't had the time to get back cause of work." he laughs along with nico, smile reaching brightly across his face. "no...no i'm not. i love marine life. i used to go down to the tide pools in high school. for obvious reasons i haven't done it again. so coming here to explore is really helpful."
Rhys didn’t mind the company one bit. Truth was, he’d take good conversation over sittin’ alone with his thoughts all night any day of the week. “Sometimes you can just tell when somebody needs a drink,” he said with a low chuckle, the corner of his mouth lifting slightly. He nodded once before turning his attention toward the bartender, ordering a regular beer for the other. Once that was done, his gaze drifted back toward him. “So what about you?” he asked in a friendly tone. “Was it the scenery that brought you out here, too?”
He was glad he didn't have to find somewhere else to go. If he did, Cassidy probably would've gone home early instead of trying to stick around. "Oh yea for sure. It's those people who can't hide their emotions or just don't care anymore." He chuckles too, finding it easy to make some kind of small talk with the other. He watches as the other guy orders him a beer. Usually he got ignored by bartenders, so it was nice to have someone else get their attention. "Um...yea. It's hard to really find a place big enough to hid when I don't want to be around anyone," he says, gesturing towards his wheelchair. "Some people freeze up and act like they don't know what to do. So I came out here to avoid them."

nico had his headphones in, music low but enough to keep him tucked into his own little world, fingers idly tapping against the side of his coffee cup as he waited for his name to be called. he didn’t immediately register the voice in front of him, only glancing up when the cup was set down on the table, attention catching on the careful movement. he slipped one side of his headphones off, then the other, letting them rest around his hand as he took listened to the other.
“hey, yeah, of course,” he said, already reaching out to steady the cup a little closer to the center of the table so it was safer. “you don’t even gotta ask, man. sit, please.” his tone was easy, but there was something quietly attentive in the way he shifted his chair back just a bit, making more room without making a whole thing of it. “you want me to grab you anything else while i’m up? napkins, sugar, whatever?” he added, glancing briefly toward the counter before looking back at him with a small, reassuring smile, pushing himself up from his seat as his order was called.
Cassie slowly lets out the breath he didn’t realize he was holding. He didn’t really want to look for another spot. So the other saying he could sit made his life a little easier, even if it was for a few seconds. It was enough to make him feel grateful that there were nice people in the world. He does take a sit and shuffles his body on the chair so that he’s sitting completely on it. He did manage to scoot the chair closer to the table before sitting, which meant he wouldn’t spill coffee on himself. That’s the last thing the 911 operator wanted to happen. After all, he was in his uniform.
“Thanks, dude. I really appreciate it. I was kind of dumb for thinking I didn’t need help. Obviously I do.” He laughs a little, head falling down towards his chest. He lets out a sigh. He was used to having to not rely on others before everything went south for him. But he forces himself not to dwell on it as he takes a sip of his coffee. His eyes land on the other and he gives them a smile. There was a grimace that crossed his features from the taste of his coffee. “It definitely needs sugar,” he admits with a slight nod to his head. “Yea, sugar would be nice if you don’t mind. I…I already got some napkins in my pocket.” He pulls them out before placing the bundle onto the table. “I’m Cassidy by the way.” He takes the braces off his arms and places them onto the ground, ignoring the slight banging sound they made as they hit the ground. “You are?”
Open starter Location: The Buoy Character: Rhys + your muse
Rhys was the adventurous type; he liked to go to different parts of town. Not only to meet new people, but also to see new scenery. He had lived in this town for so long that there was always something new to discover. one of the places he liked to visit was the Buoy before the night overtakes it.
ordering himself a beer, he could hear the distant chatter, sound of the waves against the shore, and that calmed him. Music playing in the distance, what better way to spend the evening, right? It wasn't until someone else approached and he offered "can I buy you a drink?"
The Buoy. A place he hasn’t been to at night due to work. It was rare that Cassie wasn’t on duty at night. He’s usually working his regular schedule or picking g up shifts. It’s not like he needs money. He just likes to stay busy and forget of whatever struggle he faces.
It was too crowded for his wheelchair so he rolled himself to a place with less people. He stopped close to another guy and scoots the chair over with his hands. “Hey man, yea. I guess you can. Unless you were hoping someone hotter than me sits here.” He lets out a laugh to hide the puff of air he let out from feeling tired from moving the chair. “But if want, you can buy me a regular beer.” Usually he doesn’t let anyone buy him a drink but Cassidy feels too tired to wheel himself back to the bar. “Is that cool?”

Wanted connections;
Life long best friend: someone who was his ride or ride, always there for you no matter what best friend. A person who was there for Cassidy before his accident and still is.
closed starter; @echosnoir for cassidy & any of your muses. location: addicted to the bean.
he’s been attending physical therapy for years now since the accident. mostly he’s been using a wheelchair, but lately he’s been feeling strong enough to opt in for forearm crutches. cassie can walk a bit but he does get exhausted from trying and will resort back to his wheelchair. which is actually in his van since his job wants to keep him safe and require it. he was on his way to work, but he needed coffee before going in for twelve hours.
sometimes he forgets he only has two hands and no tray when he isn’t in his wheelchair. cassidy had denied the barista’s offer to help him and he’s trying to hold one hot cup of coffee while making his way to a close table. seeing one, cassie makes his way over. “can i sit here?” he asks, placing his cup down but waiting for a response before sitting. “if not, i can…can find somewhere else to sit.” he tells the other, while looking around the coffee shop. “although…there isn’t many places to sit.”
(joe keery, cis male, he/him) Someone said they saw [CASSIDY WHITLOCK] around Rift Valley the night of Miles Logan’s murder. People are wondering if they had something to do with it. The [34] year old claims to be [WAS ON HIS WAY TO PACIFIC COAST HOSPITAL FOR PHYSICAL THERPHY] at the time of the murder. They are said to be [CHARMING], which can play to their innocence until you consider they are also [PARANOID]. But who knows if they are telling the truth? Rumor has it, they [ARE NOT] a witness in the investigation. Regardless, the [CIVILIAN] who happens to be the [911 OPERATOR/NO AFFILIATION] is a suspect, but so is everyone else.
