throughout the show something i realize is that it doesnt rely on flashbacks, not saying flashbacks are bad cuz Lost is a great example of using them well when no one is based in the previous environment and using it for parallel story telling, but TADC doesnt use them because they are hard set on the feeling of being trapped, and having little to no previous memories. Its interesting characters can remember some things about their pasts but yet not their name or most specifics. I think the writing in the last few episodes its clear jax realized that caine said hes not suppose to have control over their minds... yet he does and is lying about it. Hes also the closest to abstracting but the show is not going out of its way to TELL you, it wants to SHOW you.
I think it would be confusing for the show to give much more than they have with the characters until the end, and sadly for everyone invested a lot more in the others its a waiting game. I think all the characters have had their moments and lights into how they think and why they act the way they do, and even 'unimportant' information like Ragatha's horses or Zooble's tattooing job. (not really unimportant, i think these parts really hit home these are normal human beings trapped in a digital hellscape) However, as much as it would be interesting to hear about it like the bar scene, a lot of these issues are not prevalent in the moment, only really explanations for their personalities and behavior. This is obviously an art utilizing not telling the full story to the limit, and so what you are going to see is hints of what is in the present. Seemingly this ends up being a lot of Jax in the later episodes. His prior issues with the group, his previous friends, and his tendency to push people away, especially because hes the most keen on telling no one, is going to start standing out like a sore thumb more often. An important line to think of is when Jax is asking Pomni if she even knows what people are like before they abstract... theyre insufferable. Im not saying no one elses emotions are important im just saying its quite litterly the point of the show seems to let 'no one feel left out or not loved' and the main characters 'power' is being the glue in a group, the glue thats going to save Jax probably the most. I do wish i knew more about the other characters but i think its very intentional we are only given hints of their previous selves and the show is more focused on the moment. Every character has definitely had Their Episode and i think with such a short series people are missing the hills for the trees, theres going to be a lot left unsaid i just know it...
