RefME is an app and website that supports students with bibliography and reference challenges. 

RefME automates the whole referencing process for you. You can search by book/journal article title, DOI, ISBN, ISSN or simply copy and paste any website URL to create a reference in seconds.

Reference in over 6,500 styles including Harvard, APA, Chicago and MLA, it has them all. 

Download it from the iTunes Store or Google play or visit the website and start an account.

Voicenote is a speech to Text tool that creates text from your voice. If you find that are more fluent saying your ideas rather than writing them, then click on this link and add this application to your Chrome Browser. 

The instructions are simple. To begin just click on the Microphone icon (middle right hand side) - see image below.

Hemmingwayapp is a website with many types of spelling and grammar tips. If you find that you write long sentences or want alternative words then just go to the site. Simply copy and paste your assignment into the textbox and click ‘Edit’ (in the top right corner) to activate the coloured writing suggestions.

This app was a useful tip from staff in UCD. Students have had positive results using Cogi to record dialogue and may be of use to you too. This free Android app Cogi Voice Recorder, short for cogent ideas, may be just what you’re looking for.

Citelighter is an easy-to-use academic research tool that provides an organizational framework for writing your papers.

Citelighter is an intuitive online research platform that enables students and professionals to quickly find and record facts, automatically cite sources, and write better papers/documents.

Find It – You search the web for information:

1. Create an account and download the Citelighter browser plug-in

2. Create a project using either the toolbar or website.

3. Begin researching by searching the Internet for facts that would be useful for your project, The Citelighter toolbar stays with you.

Online Voice Recorder is a free simple application which records sound from microphone. After recording you can trim the sound and save it to your computer. 

Try it out as a way of creating mp3s (Sound Files) and then save them to your computer.

These sound files could be recordings of study notes or maybe you are practicing for a presentation. Then place the file on your phone or Mp3 player and listen back to the recording.

Helping you to befriend technologies

This website was recommended by a student to me. He is learning to make a website and found this site very useful. 

It gives you step by step instructions to learn the basics to more complex code to develop a website. It gives clear instructions and allows you to test your coding skills in your browser. You can track your development through the online content by signing up.

Getting in the zone to study and concentrate can be helped by music. There is a great YouTube channel that has a selection of music that can help you get into that exam frame of mind. 

This website called Videonot.es, allows you to watch a video and type up your notes in this clever and simple way. Simple paste the URL/ Web address of your video into the appropriate box. Then press play and type up your notes. Your typing are linked to the video - in other words when you click on the notes, that moment in the video is selected and you can play it from that point.

If you have your student Gmail account open in the same browser, your notes can be saved to your Google Drive. You can then reopen your notes in the Google Drive or in your Videonot.es account.
