Churchill Darling

“Wanna put your money where your mouth is?“ Sirius asked, not stopping as he continued towards the door. 

“Someone’s been looking into files they shouldn’t have access to... all the way in Melbourne.”

“She is good. I have all my legal paperwork for her and I’m out with her every other day to keep up appearances. Shit, I have multiple extracurricular activities and social medias dedicated to this one,“ Arthur sniggered. “I think it’s Blaine and Imani. D.W needs to start playing the happy sister-in-law or we’ll all be fucked.“ 

Chuckling, Arthur shifted around to scope out the block before turning his attention back to Church. “That sounds good. Maybe I can text Roman to come pick us up once we’re lost in the crowd down there. I would have before but you know he and subtle don’t go along.“

Church shook his head. His covers were good, but he didn’t keep any of them on a tight schedule. “Jesus, you sound like Inez. Have you also written out her likes and dislikes for her? Maybe printed up a report card?”  Church shrugged and shook his head. “Yeah, Imani’s paranoid. Pulled a gun on me a couple of months ago because I was talking to someone. Colin’s an idiot and last I heard Blaine didn’t suspect anything.” Church looked over at him. “Have you told her any of this?”

“Hey, cutie.“ Patch laughed, pinching Churchill’s cheeks and making kissy faces. “You know I like this guy. Did you ride past Panthrea on the way here?“ Patch waited until Churchill was done drinking and opened his hand, gesturing that he wanted some too. “Bitches love me. You should have seen me in my prime. I can sell a cage to a wild pumapard.” 

“Jud! I’m off!“ Patch yell over his shoulder, checking his pockets for his phone and wallet then grabbing his coat off one of the racks before headed towards the door. “I’m off now. I was just helping him catch up since we took a break in Sweden a little too long.” 

Church shot him a winning smile. “I do too. It’s a shame his wife doesn’t feel the same way. I did, no one was out.” Church snorted and passed him the cup. “Is that why he keeps you around?”

@ Wondering World of Magic

“Judson speaking. Please, hold.“ Patch said in a perfect Judson imitation. “Wondering World of Magic. Please hold… Hey, Jud! You have a call on line 2 and 3. I think Mrs. Buroot is still on line one too, man. She’s really pissed about her missing pee body order or something like that.“ Patch walked away from the counter , after calling Judson out of the back room, only to bump into someone. 

“Shit. Sorry,“ Patch replied in his natural voice.

“It’s a wonder you all have any business with that kind of customer service.” He gestured to the phone with his elbow while he drank his coffee. “What time are you off?”

Arthur sniggered, tisking as they walked away from the hunter and record store. When the hunter didn’t make to follow them, he relaxed, not catching sights of anyone else that could possibly be tailing them. “Man, thank fuck! Asshole was riding up my ass for hours. Where you taking me, boo?”

Church snorted and shook his head. “I thought this girl was good, why the hell did you have a Colt on your ass? Who fucked up, you or D.W.?” Church pushed his hair over his shoulder. “I’m thinking Cryptic, in case they get it in their head to follow us. Maybe someone will take a bite out of them.”

“Oh, you would love if I curse at you wouldn’t you.“ Max kept the same pace as she continued toward the entrance. “Is that what all this was about? To hell with me and trying to make peace, it was all about getting back at Jim? Vincent complained about never leaving a negotiation without being bugged or followed. I went against everything and made that happen just to be screwed over by the ones waving the white flag. I honestly don’t care what you have to say, Churchill. They know you’re here… I would leave if I were you.“

“To hell with you? We made the deal, Maxine. Everyone got what they wanted. Except you, but no one really knows what side you’re playing or what you actually wanted out of this, do they? Your pack doesn’t, your boyfriend doesn’t, we sure as hell don’t.” Churchill shook his head and turned on his heel. “Don’t throw a fit because you’re playing in the league you always wanted to...”

“Nah,” Arthur shook his head and place the record down. “I checked the price and its cheaper online. I rather wait the 4 to 6 business days and save 40 bucks.”

“Totally.” Church wrapped his arm around Arthur’s waist and started leading him out. He looked the hunter dead in the eye as they walked by. “It’s 2021 asshole, this shit’s been legal for years.”

“One day all this taking me for granted and showing up late is going to catch up to you,“ Arthur sighed, flashing Church a smile. “Yeah, if you are.“

“Oh please, you love me.” He flipped the record around and shrugged. “Were you serious about this one? We can go and buy it, if you were.”

“I’m starting to see how absolutely shallow you can be.“ Max said, locking her car and sending Jim and Ray a text message stating that Churchill has followed her to the Mall or somehow knew she was going to be there as she walked toward the entrance. “You bugged my car.” 

“Shallow? That’s all you got for me bugging your car?” Church followed behind her, a part of him enjoying the game. “I did. And you all have been stalking us for nearly two centuries. Plus you’re dating the single guy whose wanted my head on a platter.”

“It wasn’t meant to sound welcoming, Churchill.“

“Ooh, someone’s chilly today. We all got what we wanted, I’m surprised you’re pissed. Or didn’t your friend tell you he took us up on our offer?”

“You are,” she smiled, “but it’s nothing to do with your head,” 

“I am and you’re Church right?”

“Very fair.”

“Churchill…“ Vincent sighed looking out the window. “You just passed our apartment. Are you parking down the block again to hid from Jaxson?“

“Yep.” He pointed to the black SUV behind them. “Bastard figured out how to get the boot off of his car after all. Slashed tires may need to be the next resort.”

“You’ve just been fucking demoted.“ Sirius grumbled. “Repeat after me… Crime is at an all time low.“

“I don’t know about that. Vince seems preoccupied with resurrecting his dead wife and kid that no one told me about. Seems like you’re stuck with me for a while.”

“That’s the nicest thing you’ve ever said to me.” Jax smirked, taking it as a compliment. “Just hard work and sweat, Churchill. Finish your pop then change your face to something else and come on a walk with me. I wanna talk.“

Church took a long sip, before smirking and shaking his head. “Oh yeah, I’m going to go to a secondary undisclosed location with my stalker. Man, who is dumb enough to fall for that?”
