Athabasca oil sands: PAH link to cancer

Tools: Photoshop CC, Maya Autodesk 2014, After Effects CC, Audition CC Purpose: There is a lot of concern that the increased cancer rates around the Athabasca oil sands in Alberta (where I grew up) are a result of these PAHs. Many papers that have been published within the past couple years detail levels of PAHs in the Athabasca River and its tributaries that are actually much higher than initially reported. The link between PAH and cancers is widely established. I would like to create a 3 minute bio-molecular 3D animation to present these issues to the public. It would depict the complex events underlying the pathophysiology specific to the types of cancers associated with increased PAHs. This project is targeting the general public,​ politicians, and even researchers in the field, and the desire is to increase knowledge and stimulate public interest in potential developments of new public policy surrounding the oil sands.

my render layers for whatever reason are not lining up as you can see in the video. I've clipped the animation and am re rendering with less of the soft body structures in hopes that it will be less data heavy and that way will render properly. 

Starting my batch render for over night of my 5 second chromatin clip. really hoping this works out so I only have to try to work out one long clip for the render farm with sean. 

Think I would like another xRay render layer to be also applied to the DNA. this will add an EM scanning type look. Hopefully that render layer wont take that long 

i now have two scenes completed in after effects I'm am just waiting to figure out how to send off my largest scene.

went back to work in my chromatin file and found that i'm not able to select anything and nothing is showing up in my outliner. This means I'm unable to edit anything in this file. I will have to start this over again.

Still need to add text and sound but this is a sample of the PAH intro made using render layers and modified in after affects.  Feeling better that I'm at least completing some shots, but need to work out how to render out my largest file!
