Summary: Veritus is out to rob some people when he witnesses an assassination attempt in an alley. He jumps in to rescue the victim, and gets pinned by the bad guy with a big knife in return. Luckily Longshot appears and together they run him off. They talk and walk for a bit, until Longshot embarrasses themself and decides that’s a good time to split off.

Summary: Aletta needs a breather while at Artemis’s Halloween party. Gabe invites her to the balcony, away from all the hubbub, and they basically shoot the shit. They amuse themselves with each other’s powers, talk about costumes, and life stuff, like moving out. Gabe however makes all of this very bad for himself because he has a terrible crush on her.

Characters: Aletta, Yves

Summary: Aletta practices her new jump jets with Yves in tow. The conversation turns toward the moral choices you face while being a hero, and Yves ends up confessing that he kills people. Aletta is taken off guard and distressed, but she soon realizes that Yves does it as an act of self-loathing sacrifice. Not wanting to abandon him in this state, she promises herself that they will talk about this later before deciding to move on.
