It is your truest most raw and natural self.  

We are all both masculine and feminine and the moon manifests equally in both men and women.   However, it represents a feminine aspect of our nature, just as the sun represents a masculine aspect of our nature. Therefore I chose pictures of women to represent examples of each moon sign.   But again, the behavior of the moon can be seen equally among men and women.  Women often more quickly express their moon sign behavior than men.  

Moon in Fire Signs - Loud Emotions

People with Moon in Fire signs are very emotionally expressive and often self-centered.  They are usually very confident and independent.  They are very aware of their own needs but not anyone else’s.  They can be very passionate and aggressive in their emotional expressions, demanding a lot of attention whenever they are going through anything. They may not be very deep or introspective but they always do exactly as they feel without always thinking about the consequences.  They have the capacity to bounce back from nearly any emotional set back though. Mars and Venus Pt 1

Romantic Compatibility is a many faceted thing.  Your birth charts can tell many stories about your relationships.  You should never rely solely on your Sun Signs to decide if you and your partner are compatible.

Many factors are at play.

In my first Compatibility post, I introduced the Moon Sign, which, in my opinion, is  most important in determining the nature and durability of your romantic relationship.

The next most important is the placement of Mars and Venus which helps to determine the nature of your sexual relationship. It is important to remember that the Mars and Venus alone cannot tell you if your relationship will last or even start.  I have had relationships where our Mars and Venus were incredibly compatible and though we may have had fun sex our relationship did not work in the long run.  Other factors in my chart surely told me why though. Mars and Venus will definitely be helpful in determining the nature of your attraction, as well as understanding your partner’s sexual needs and relationship expectations.  But it is up to YOU to decide if you want to do the work to have a long lasting relationship or to deal with the fact that it simply was not meant to be.

In Astrology, Mars represents your drive to to win, what you want out of life and the way in which you go after it.  In Relationship Compatibility this includes your Sex Drive. Mars represents how you go after what you want sexually.  

Mars in a Man’s chart represents how he expresses his masculinity, the way he behaves during the act of sex, the way a man approaches sex in his life.

Mars in a woman’s chart represents her sex drive as well, but it also represents what she finds masculine and attractive in a male and the way she expects her ideal partner to behave.    

(Note: I realize that gender roles are not always so clearly defined and sexuality is varied.  Nevertheless, I have noticed that gay men are still attracted by another man’s Mars and lesbians are still attracted by another woman’s Venus. The gender roles may shift depending on each relationship. But. both Mars and Venus will play a role in attraction in both gay, straight, and transgendered relationships. For the sake of keeping it easy to read, I will keep it simple and just say “Man"and “Woman” and feel free to interpret the gender roles as you wish.)

Mars is very selfish.  Mars wants to please himself only.  He wants to fight, win, and then feast.  There is not much consideration of others where Mars is involved, only self fulfillment.  This is a necessary element for survival.  We must all possess a certain element of selfishness in order to survive.  

Venus represents our desire to please. Venus represents what we enjoy, how we have fun, and all that is beautiful about ourselves as well was what we find to be beautiful.  

In Relationship Compatibility, Venus represents your feminine sexiness, your beauty, the way you in which you give love, and the types of relationships that please you.  

In a woman’s chart Venus represents the way she expresses her femininity, they way she behaves during sex, how she behaves in relationships, the way she shows love for her partner. 

In a Man’s chart Venus represents the type of woman he will be attracted to, what he wants from relationships, how he behaves in relationships, as well as his sweeter, more considerate and giving aspects of his nature.  

Venus lives to please.  If you are not happy she is not happy.  She wants everyone to be in bliss. 

Mars and Venus aspects to each other.

Please note that for the following relationship aspects to function best, Mars should be interpreted for the Male or more dominant partner. With these combinations, having the female in the Mars position may result in the male feeling emasculated or the female feeling less feminine. So, even though they may be a compatible pairing, it may lead to problems in the relationship due to confusing gender roles. 

Male Mars conjunct Female Venus [Conjunct = In the Same sign, preferably within 0-10 degrees of each other]

Ideal Scenario.  Very strong instant attraction. Very similar sexual desires, patterns, and expectations.  Natural friends as well.  You should be very comfortable communicating your sexual desires.  Even if the relationship fizzles out, you are likely to remain close friends throughout your lives.

Female Mars conjunct Male Venus - Example of Gender Role Reversal

Though the attraction may be strong this combination may lead to problems in the relationship.  Male can feel emasculated.  Female doesn’t feel very feminine. Female may feel that the male is weak. Male may feel female is too dominant. Great for a close friendship and can be sexual advisors to each other. Can be the type of relationship where the female is always “on top”.  The attraction will still be very strong and if either of the partners don’t mind the role reversal the sex can be very hot.  Either way this can be a close bond and long lasting friendship. 

Mars Square Venus [Square = same Modality, Different Element without being opposites -  Example Mars in Taurus (Fixed Earth) and Venus in Aquarius (Fixed Air)]

Strong Attraction but can be a turbulent relationship.  There can be jealousy, fights, sexual misunderstandings.  Very passionate affair.  Can turn to enemies.  Can run hot and cold. 

Mars Opposite Venus [Example -  Mars in Aquarius and Venus in Leo]

Very Strong Attraction.  Similar to square but less turbulent.  You may have some sexual misunderstandings, jealousy, and may sometimes not feel attracted to each other at the same time. Your sexual rhythms may run opposite to each other. One is horny when the other is not.  But your are each very attracted to each other.

Mars Trine Venus [Trine=Same Element  - Example Mars in Leo (fire) and Venus in Sagittarius (fire)]

Very Strong attraction. Mutual appreciation of each other.  Lasting friends.  Very sexually compatible. Hot Sex!

Mars Sextile Venus [Sextile = Same Polarity, Different Element without being opposites -  Example Mars in Virgo (Earth) and Venus in Cancer(Water)]

Very fun sex.  You may not be instantly attracted to each other. But should you find yourselves together, you will realize that it was a great decision! You are sexually very compatible but also very experimental.  You can teach each other new things and are always excited to try new things together. It may seem like an odd pairing to the rest of the world but you both are having loads of fun.

Venus and Mars in the Signs

Its important to note that just because a person has a planet in a certain sign does not necessarily mean she will be attracted to partners with that sign.  It just means she will be attracted to the quality that the sign represents in her life.  

Please also note that the following interpretations are for planets in the signs only.  The house position will greatly effect the way Venus and especially Mars behaves.  Some house positions can really dampen the effect of certain planets. Mars  or Sun in Pisces - May fantasize about sex all the time but may be too timid or shy to act on it.  Will be a very sensual and romantic lover.  May need drugs or alcohol in order to have sex.  May prefer to be seduced rather than to do the seducing.  May be very unpredictable in his sexual exploits, may seem to be controlled by some unknown force rather than his own conscious desires.  For this reason he may not always be loyal.  He goes with the flow when it comes to sex and may not stick solely to his current relationship partner.  He may use sex to become spiritually awakened in some way.

So I decided to spend months of my life matching tarot cards to classic soul songs and here’s what I got. I chose classic soul because it is a genre all about the expression of the soul, duh, and the 60s-70s for me is when that genre was the most potent. I went a little bit off genre for some songs if I felt a really strong connection with the card and the song. But mainly I tried to stay as much within the chosen genre and era as possible.  I plan on doing it again for 80s-90s hip hop/r&b and other genres eventually too. Some songs were really hard to find songs that matched exactly the way I wanted. I either couldn’t think of enough songs or know of enough to match the card in the way I hoped. I took that as a spiritual note that that was somewhere in my life I could use more focus and development. The hardest thing was wanting to include certain songs or artists so much but not finding a card that worked for it, or already choosing a song that I liked better. I had ideas of doing a reversal deck, songs that represent the reversal meanings of each card, but that just might be an entirely too daunting endeavor. 

There are many ways to use this “audio tarot deck”. The first thing to do is load all the songs into a playlist on itunes or something like that and set it to shuffle. Then you can use the idea of some traditional tarot card spreads to listen to your reading. My favorite thing to do is a simple past present future spread. You think about a question or some issue you’re having in life and the first 3 songs answer your question.  The first is where you’re coming from, the 2nd is where you’re at, the 3rd is what you have to do about it.  Mostly this was an exercise for me to get to know my cards again after a long hiatus, which was really fun. But it’s also a fun alternative to traditional readings, using sounds instead of images. If anyone wants a zip file of all the songs to try it out message me. Enjoy.

Björk is one of my favorites ever. She is just the damned best okay! She is also of course a fabled mythic creature - a triple Scorpio! Sun, Moon, and Rising all in Scorpio.  As a result pretty much ALL of her songs are rather Scorpio in theme.  I’ll say for the purposes of this post, that all of her songs have Scorpio Moons but these songs have different sun signs. So I’ve been conceptualizing this for a while. I was trying to think about how your 3 main signs work together to express your personality. While stuck in traffic I came up with this idea.

(I know I skipped #4. And I will get to that eventually.  But I recently had a revelation about a previous relationship and I wanted to share it while it was still fresh on my mind. So I’m skipping ahead to discuss the North Node in Astrological Compatibility.) LOL I actually started this 2 months ago. But got lazy.

The North Node AKA True Node AKA Rahu (Vedic) is a mean, crazy, complex thing in Astrology.  I like to simplify things though. I have Mercury in Sagittarius so I’m a big fan of “the main idea”.  I will say the true node is like a mega magnet that keeps pulling stronger and stronger way after its attached;  A deluxe extractor that explodes something slowly from the inside.  It is WAY excessive.  Any aspects to the NN will work kind of like the dad that makes you smoke the whole pack of cigarettes because you took one drag after school behind the gymnasium.  It teaches you life lessons about something by making you experience entirely too much of it.  It extracts all the ingredients out of something until it is no longer that something. It changes your life. It is deeply spiritual.

The North Node represents what is challenging and unfamiliar but what you need to move toward in order to fulfill your spiritual purpose.  Its opposite, the South Node, represents what you are comfortable with but need to move away from in order to fulfill your spiritual purpose.  

When someone’s North Node conjuncts or opposes someone’s personal planet between 0-3 degrees, expect some seriously life changing circumstances. You will have an obvious and instant attraction.  It will immediately seem meant to be in some way. But, whatever planet that aspects the NN will become an increasingly heavy weight in that relationship.  This is true for all of the planets. Not just personal planets.

When I was much younger I was in a relationship with a guy who until recently still haunted me.  It took me several years to recover from that relationship. From just looking at basic compatibility elements in our charts, it would seem at first that we were meant to be.

My Moon sign was conjunct his DC which is a famous “Marriage” aspect.  

In our composite chart our Vertex was conjunct the DC. Another marriage aspect.

My sun sign was conjunct his Venus. My moon sign was trine his Venus.

His Mars was conjunct my Venus.  

Naturally, we had some challenging aspects too.  But what ended us, what doomed us  or at least played a major part in our demise was his North Node conjunct my Saturn by 0°. They were EXACTLY conjunct.  Cue the death march song.

Though this aspect surely meant that our relationship at that youthful age in our lives was not meant to last.  It meant something much bigger in my personal life and spiritual journey.  It was that relationship that forced me to start growing up.  It began to harden me and prepare me for life’s more difficult blows. It made me begin to see myself and love myself for who I really was, not whatever personality my family and friends were projecting onto me.  I was very somber, cynical, weary in the years following that breakup.  But with this came a maturity that I didn’t have before. I had to make and learn to live with really uncomfortable decisions about my life.  For no other reason but to survive, I had to face harsh realities about myself that I would not have been able to face in the years before I dated him.  Subliminally, I knew I had difficult times ahead. I knew that I had some maturing to do, and I picked him to expedite the process.  

When our relationship began I didn’t even know him. I worked with him and one day I looked at him and just realized I liked him. I didn’t know why I did.  I just did.  I began to be slightly obsessed with him.  I don’t even remember talking to him before I liked him, I just felt drawn to him for some reason.  He later told me, that prior to our dating he would watch me shopping around the store unbeknownst to myself at the time.  We were both still young and relatively inexperienced in matters of the heart. Our relationship was rocky from the start. Though we had our share of fun and hot sex,  almost immediately, things began to get very dark and heavy.

Saturn is a very heavy planet.  It is the planet of reality. The cold hard facts. The bitter truth.  Saturn wants nothing more but for everyone to get the full experience of Reality on this planet. It wants you to be rooted, to grow, and to be fruitful.  But not without enduring all the forces of nature first.

In a Romantic relationship, Saturn is not really want you want.  Especially not in the beginning. You want to dream. You want to live in a fantasy together. You want the honeymoon.  You want Neptune, Venus, The Moon. Saturn is a major joy kill and super party pooper in the early stages of a relationship.

Well, almost immediately after he and I became intimate people began to bombard me with information about his former lovers.  One of whom I also worked with and was somewhat friends with. It hurt me that neither one of them decided to tell me that they had been together just a few weeks prior to he and I beginning to date. I wanted to be in the honeymoon stage but I was instantly confronted with reality. I decided not to confront him with this information. Instead letting it fester.  As our relationship progressed I continued to have more and more uncomfortable truths thrusted upon me. 

We had all kinds of rocky ups and downs and confusion. I was so depressed when I was with him but I honestly loved him. I didn’t understand why it had to be so painful.  I couldn’t understand why I liked someone so much but also resented him so much. I felt like he was a child and I was a grownup even though he was a year older.  I resented him because I felt his life was so easy and mine was so challenging. I resented him for resenting me for not having an easy life.  I wanted him to be more mature and I often felt like such a nag bringing the mood down all the time.  I didn’t know how to be light and easy with him. It just wasn’t coming.  And I could sense that he wanted to get away from me but still honestly liked me too.  It was horrible.  My personal life began to be more and more out of control.  I had money problems, family problems, friend problems.  Everything  that I thought was stable in my life seemed to slowly fall apart the longer I clung to him.  It wasn’t like he was doing it.  It was more like I was being ripped from my fantasies. He was like a spaceship tearing me from my fantasy world and setting me in orbit towards where I was really meant to be.  I was forced to see who my real friends, were, what really was stable in my life and what wasn’t.

Our breakup was horrible for me but wonderful for him. I never felt so lost.  I felt like I had nothing left when we were finished. All the people I thought were my friends, my home, my sense of who I was and where I was going – All of that was completely gone.  I was starting fresh.  I was completely uprooted and I was set on a journey to find True stable ground to replant myself.  

I’m still not completely sure if I have found that place yet.  But I do know that I am grateful to have had that time of having my illusions so violently ripped away from me.  Sometimes you’re not strong enough to grow on your own.  You need some type of supplement.  

I was angry with him for so long. But thankfully astrology helped me and I was able to realize that he was only playing a part, he was a catalyst in my spiritual evolution. He was absolutely a soulmate who helped me to realize a higher version of myself.  I can only hope that in some way I did the same for him.

North Node Conjuntions to:

Oppositions to the NN are really conjunctions to the South Node and work in an opposite way.  If someone conjuncts your planets SN, you will begin the relationship with the energy of that planet radiating very strongly, but as that person grows spiritually or as time progresses, the energy of that planet will decrease.  That person may have picked you because he/she feels comfortable enough with you to begin a higher spiritual journey.  Harsh planets like, Mars, Saturn, Pluto, or even Neptune may become easier as your relationship progresses.  While more romantic elements like Venus, The Moon, Jupiter, or again Neptune may fade over time.  

South Node Conjunctions to:

The Sun - You may have picked this person because of how he/she boosts your ego. Over time though you may realize the vanity of your ego as a result of this relationship. You may become more in touch with your true self.

The moon also shows what kind of mother or nurturer you will be.  The moon also represents your home and how you feel about home.  The moon shows how you behave in a crisis or emergency. It is your truest most raw and natural self.  

We are all both masculine and feminine and the moon manifests equally in both men and women.   However, it represents a feminine aspect of our nature, just as the sun represents a masculine aspect of our nature. Therefore I chose pictures of women to represent examples of each moon sign.   But again, the behavior of the moon can be seen equally among men and women.  Women often more quickly express their moon sign behavior than men.

People with Moon in Fire signs are very emotionally expressive and often self-centered.  They are usually very confident and independent.  They are very aware of their own needs but not anyone else’s.  They can be very passionate and aggressive in their emotional expressions, demanding a lot of attention whenever they are going through anything.
