          He   couldn’t   help   but   chuckle   at   the   others   dissatisfaction,   “Your   mother   is   only   a   someone   I   respect   as   a   close   friend,   what   private   matters   we   hold   I   will   keep   to   myself.   Deal?”   Dark   brows   lifted,   “You   must   keep   in   mind   that   I   have   very   few   people   who   are   like   I   that   I   am   able   to   run   complete   methods   by,   one   of   few   I   can   trust   in   certain   circumstances.”   Lucifers   hand   waved,   it   was   true;   even   as   the   King   of   Hell   or   whatever   people   hailed   him   as   there   were   few   people   he   himself   could   turn   to   if   he   were   in   a   rut.   “Sounds   like   germaphobes   to   me,   they   don’t   want   you   corrupting   their   beloved   cards.”   

          An   airy   chuckle   slipped   through   his   lips,   “I’ll   be   sure   to   keep   you   on   your   toes   with   my   skeptics,   hows   that?”   Fingers   interlaced   and   he   sat   back,   “I   have   known   them   a   while,   I   think.   It’s   complex   but   I   consider   it   a   while.”   Eyes   watched   Alois’   fingers   with   the   card   and   then   watched   him   sit   it   out   on   the   table,   “I   must   know   if   they   are   deserving   of   the   extraordinary   profession   I   have   placed   them   into.”   Michael   failed   the   last   time   but   he   was   pretty   damn   close   to   succeeding;   if   the   witches   hadn’t   interfered   he   surely   would   have.

She would somehow find out and he’d find himself on the outs with her again and if there was one thing he knew, it was that he’d rather be in the good graces of an ancient demoness who cared little for anyone. Regardless of their relation to her. “I can understand them in a sense, but in regards to a deck meant only for the readers hands. Your own personal deck, I feel, should never be touched by someone else but if it’s a deck you use for other people? Just make sure you cleanse it properly between readings.
