i made this post because a teenage boy had just tried to get me to like him by making fun of teenage girls. he thought telling me that “other girls” are always whining and acting dumb would make me fall to my knees and thank him for allowing me to be the exception to the rule that “all girls are shallow”. making fun of teenage girls is not funny or cute. because i am a teenage girl and i’m not ashamed to be a stereotype sometimes. because my friends are teenage girls and i love them more than i could ever love some fuckboy whose personality consists entirely of offensive jokes. because teenage girls are amazing and popular culture would be nothing without them. so don’t you dare correct me because this post is about girls and how we don’t deserve half the shit society gives us. this post is about every single girl who is made to feel like she has to condemn her peers for the favor of a boy. this post is about trans girls that get harassed by their classmates and are told their “not enough of a girl”. this post is about girls of color who have to deal with blatant racism and the fetishizing of their culture. this post is about basic bitches who can’t enjoy the things they like without society making fun of them. this post is about fat girls who are conditioned to hate their bodies and are mocked for being confident anyway. this post is for me, because i felt so incredibly small and worthless after being told that a group of people i belong to is, as a rule, uninteresting and shallow. this post is not about boys.
