This one is super short but I liked this one a lot :)

“Why’re you trying so hard?”

“I hope one day you’re as happy as you’re pretending to be.”

You always smiled with a fake smile of yours. You always thought that life would be easier that way. To be kind to others, compliment them while in reality all you wanted to do was the opposite. But that would only make your life harder, which prevented you from doing so. After a while, you met this boy who didn’t fall for your charms, unlike the others. 

“Why’re you trying so hard?” he bluntly said to you. His words took you by surprise, still unable to talk he smoke up once again. “Your expression is always the same, always happy, face plastered with that same fake smile you have on your face everyday.”

Your cheeks fell slightly, realizing how much they were hurting to keep the fake smile you had on up. You had never had someone catch on so quickly, or even at all. You had been playing the ‘happy girl’ role pretty well so far that you hadn’t known how to react to the boy who caught on to you. You continued to stare closing your mouth but continued to smile at him, the smile looking slightly more sad than your usual perky, happy-go-lucky smile.
