#so what if I already reblogged this last week. I deserve to reblog it again today #it's so good. makes me happy #clair obscur: expedition 33

still shocking to me that so many people prefer the life to love ending and even think it's a happy/good (!) ending. I don't mean the fact that there are people who like it at all, but the fact that it's apparently the more popular ending by such a wide margin and with essentially no nuance

the "destroyed world" ending? the "these characters you have grown to love will never get to deal with their grief because the local deities' grief comes first second and third and fourth and last" ending? the "arbitrarily deciding what's real and what's worthless" ending? the "the antagonist gets everything he wants with absolutely no pushback whatsoever" ending? the "the only main character who survives gets to be stuck in a life in which she's still alone and hurt and absolutely nothing has materially improved for her and she's also now lost a whole world's worth of loved ones (and also a whole version of herself btw but who's counting) that no one even knows to grieve with her" ending???? alright then.

#anyway I hate it #not that I like either ending but at least the life to paint ending isn't so... definitive and frankly insulting lol #because what do you MEAN aline isn't even a little mad. after all of that? what was renoir's dialogue in the monolith even about then #both endings essentially sideline the characters I like (yes even verso)#but at least the life to paint ending doesn't expect me to love that. at least it's not pretending to be good.#if anything it's pretending to be worse than it really is #clair obscur: expedition 33 #mine
