So I was talking to a chemist about the definition of "cloth" and we came to the conclusion that paper is a type of felt
Minyoung Kim - Cat-Erpillar from the series Felis Versipellis (Tales of the Shape-Shifting Cat), 2022, Pencil on paper, 30 x 30 cm / 11.8 x 11.8 inches.
Someone in the notes says this is from Cooking for Engineers, and it specifically looks like this recipe.
And⦠I like the version in the above screenshot better than the current version:
Sideways text is harder to read, and I think the extra vertical lines actually help although Iʼm not sure why.
Hah, as I was looking at OP version, I was exactly thinking that it would be clearer if the lines were different. Not exactly the ones on your version either, but those are closer to what I thought of.
What do you think good line locations would be, and more importantly can you explain why? I donāt know where my preferences there come from at all.
I'm not sure what would be good, but I can definitely explain why I think the first one could be improved.
Looking just at the first two mix steps, this is what they want you to do:
If you want to do that with boxes instead of arrows, what does this box represent?
If arrows get boxes, it should look like this:
And if they don't, that box shouldn't be there. Maybe just get rid of it and put ingredients by the thing they're used for?
And there's a synthesis of my "better" and the one that's currently used by cookingforengineers that I think might be perfect:

One might have missed the bird entirely, mistaking it for just another twist of cracked, sun-bleached deadwood on the half-fallen tree. Or one might have assumed it was an adaptation to its preferred haunts, growing plumage in the same palette and pattern as the outlook over a field of mousey morsels. Rarely, one might know on sight a reforester hawk, also known as a deadwood phoenix, whose nesting habits began with assembling a skeletal tree, which would hatch into new growth along with the bird's eggs.
'The Battalion' 3/5
This is poetry. This is storytelling. You can leave the sound off if you want but. Stop. Watch. You surely will not regret doing so.
Thinking about the kind of scams where the premise is that someone in on the con feigns having a problem they need help with, and as soon as someone stops whatever they were doing to try and help, they're getting robbed. Like yeah that's one hell of an ugly move and nobody deserves to live in a society where anyone has to resort to stooping that low in order to get by.
But it does say something about what people are like, that the most tempting bait that people just can't pass up is someone needing help. Not an opportunity to earn or gain anything from helping someone, just the opportunity to help someone. If a situation offered a small chance of getting money or getting laid, most people won't even consider it, but if you put a person a situation where there appears to be someone who needs your help and all you could plausibly get out of that situation is that a person you've never met and will never meet again will stop being in peril, you've already gotten your wallet stolen.
The urge to help is so ingrained that you can use it as bait.
Abusing Christians?
Sure, if you're offering. I've always wanted to beat a televangelist with some jumper cables.
ahhhh i missed my anniversary again :[ anyways. redraw of the first horse i ever drew for the anniversary once again

"Mario Mario" is an anachronism. He and his brother were only ever referred to by mononyms in their lifetime, like most residents of the Mushroom Kingdom at the time - multi-part names were typically reserved for members of the Toadstool dynasty, and even these were more like titles or Roman cognomina than what we would call a surname today. His putative ennoblement as founder of the "House of Mario" came centuries later as the collapsing feudal order sought additional sources of legitimacy
#mushroom kingdom folklore says that he sleeps beneath a warp pipe to arise in the time of the kingdom's greatest need #he's definitely shown up a few times but it's hard to tell if he has risen from the dead or is just in the middle of some time travel shit #historians hate him.
While the historical evidence for Mario having a younger brother is quite concrete, the name of said brother is less certain. "Luigi" is generally held to originate with a separate figure from a series of chthonic myths, who originally served as a sort of psychopomp charged with capturing spirits that escaped the underworld. The strongest case for a contemporary figure named Luigi comes from the Waffle Kingdom sagas; however, this Luigi's brother is a gladiator named Gonzales.
now I know that there's no way for me to respond to this without a bunch of fans of the modern adaptations ruining my inbox for the next week, but there's no evidence of Waluigi - or indeed Luigi - in any of the contemporary versions of the Mario-Wario sagas. The name "Wario" itself is a later invention, held to be a pun on warui that likely emerged after the adoption of Japanese scripts in the Koopa States.
The conflict between Mario and his "boyhood rival" was one over political influence on his home island and Mario's long absences - in particular his trip to Sarasaland. While later Sarasan sources would heavily reference Mario's brother, he is absent from both the preceding narrative and the unrest in Mario's homeland. The historical consensus is that the Sarasaland journey was one of Mario's earliest wanderings, with his brother attempting to manage affairs in his absence and proving unfit. The invention of a separate "Wario" character and its development into an explicit coup d'etat were later poetic creations, as is distancing of the "Wario" figure from the later depictions of Mario's brother as the more cowardly and reserved "Luigi".
(As an aside: "Mario Land" is a mistranslation. The original Mushroomer and Sarasan chronicles are better translated as "the land of Mario", without connotations of ownership. The modern scholastic consensus is that it refers to Yoshi's Island, where Mario and his brother spent their youth and later established a small manor, not, as commonly depicted, a "Mario Castle". The emphasis on Mario as king of "Mario Land" was a mostly successful political maneuver by the Yoshis to retain coequal status with the Mushroom Kingdom heartlands in the face of 18th-century expansionist pan-Mushroomism.)
The later emergence of "Waluigi" is an ironic recombination of two figures from the same historical source, and may have originated as a farce parodying the Mario stories. (The name "Waluigi" is also conflated with the early Norman figure Varr Yngwi, who is generally credited with the invention of tennis.)
And honestly thatās not even the most egregious insertion of a Mario rival. That dubious honor, in my opinion goes to Sonic the Hedgehog, a wholly unrelated Moebian hero who was spliced into an infamous paradox (stating that a swift runner, *sometimes* named as Mario, cannot beat a *regular* hedgehog with a head start in a footrace) as a literary fairy tale written in 1895 as an attempt to capitalize on the upcoming revival of the Olympic Games.

the wikipedia list of animals sounds says that peacocks honk. but i have personally never seen them honk when i am at the zoo. as someone with more insight, do you think they honk?
#like I KNOW peacocks are loud#loud AF#that was the joke I made to my cousin when he was trying to figure out what to get for his chicken flock to help with predators#I said a peacock would be good at alerting BECAUSE of that#but I did NOT expect such a clown ass honk#if clowns could speak that is exactly the sound I would expect to come out of their mouths#has anyone ever seen a clown and a peacock at the same place#maybe they are in fact the same species#I don't think I've ever seen a peacock at a carnival#or a clown at a zoo#maybe there's a reason for that (via @frozenbrimstone)
Listen.... I don't talk about it a lot but.
Every once in a while, you'll just find clown eggs in peafowl nests, much the way cuckoo eggs end up in non-cuckoo bird nests. The cuckoos are not the same bird, obviously, and nor are clowns and peafowl. But, given that peafowl evolved long before clowns, it's safe to say that the honking is a learned behavior for the clowns, passed down from the peafowl that raise them, and taught to one another in the cases where peafowl do not directly raise them.
