Why Do Leaders Bully in the Workplace?
Psychologist Dr. Audrey Sherman, author of Dysfunction Interrupted!, gives us an answer. In the workplace, my business was founded based on my personal experience of workplace bullying. It became evident that the leadership, including the president, may have been complicit in fostering such behavior. Bullying, whether on the playground or within corporate environments, often originates from individuals lacking emotional intelligence and communication skills. These individuals resort to bullying tactics as a means of fulfilling their own needs, having possibly found this behavior effective in the past. The root of such behavior can often be traced back to personal insecurities and fears, such as a fear of failure, feeling inadequate, or being overshadowed by others. Addressing workplace bullying requires a multifaceted approach. Offering training programs focused on empathy and sensitivity can help cultivate a more inclusive and respectful work environment. However, if such interventions prove ineffective, it may be necessary to consider re-assigning or removing individuals who continue to engage in bullying behaviors. While it is essential to support individuals struggling with their mental health, it is equally crucial to maintain a workplace culture that values respect and professionalism.

Exploring the Concept of Bringing Your Whole Self to Work
People judge people as having "an attitude". But what does it mean? You can't label someone as having the wrong attitude because you look at them through a black-and-white lens. It's all about what's happening at the moment that shapes how we feel. If someone has a positive attitude, something is working for them. But if they're being "negative", something is holding them back. Leaders, co-workers, friends, and family members: Keep this in mind next time you encounter someone with attitude. Let's understand and empathize before we judge. #leadershipdevelopment #management #fairness #empathymatters #attitude
