âOf course I do, what it doesnât hurt to sober what one rich-beyond-reason idiot would wear to an event. Isnât the whole purpose of these things to show off what you have, or in some cases, what you donât have?â Eniola looked after Charna climbing through the window, there was something interesting. Eniola knee she couldnât get herself over that unless absolutely desperate.
âFrivolous? The word is frivolous, probably.â
âDoesnât make it any less dumb.â Charna couldnât help but grumble as she leapt to the ground, crouching upon landing to soften the blow. âNot like they seem to dress any cheaper day-to-day, though. If anything they just dressed, bigger.â
As the now familiar word hit her ears, she whipped her head around and clicked as she pointed at Eniola.âThat was it! Frivolous!â

Harry took delight in the fact that she didnt seem too scared of him, grinning widely now. He was rather interested in the girl, having seen her before but they had never spoken.
âUmaâs in hot water with âer mum, I get more time off now.â He mused, admittedly rather bored waiting for orders.

âWhen is she not?â Charna couldnât help but snort. She did feel some pity for her former roommate, but itâs not like any of their parents were particularly loving. She had tried to encourage her to maybe spend a little less time within range of Ursulaâs tenticles, but apparently that had gone right over her head.
âSo, what? Youâre a lost little pup without your captain? Or are you actually here for a reason?â

âI like them,â Lakhi had her chin resting in her hands, only staring glassy-eyed out the window. She couldnât wait till she was back in Auradon come Monday, and at this point was only absent-mindedly listening to Charna scoff at the idea of dances. Lakhi thought they were the height of riches, only the best people got to attend a ball. Lakhi had dreamed of being on of those people since before she could walk, âMaybe if you werenât such an old croneâŚâ She muttered low enough to hope Charna wouldnât hear, letting a little waspish tone slip in.
âOf course you would,â Charna scoffed, carefully bouncing Ivah up and down in her arms. Her gaze never left the little snake, however, and her grip was firmer than usual.
Sheâd been called distrusting more times than she could count, but sheâd found that it was generally better to trust less people and survive than trust too many people and die. So she wasnât quite sure why Baba hadnât followed the same philosophy. But she had also been surviving far long than she had, so maybe it was time to take a page from her book. Hopefully she wouldnât die trying.
âI heard that.â

June rolled his eyes. Maybe he was the fool for trusting Charna would actually give him helpful advice, or maybe he just hadnât elaborated on the situation enough for her. Still though, it wasnât like he could tell her what he actually wanted from the princess.
âCanât exactly steal whatâs in someoneâs brain. I need information, and Rhey wonât say two words to me,â Other than all the excruciatingly-worded insults, âAnd hereâs the thing, Iâm trying to find some leverage, but people here either donât know they exist since they never leave that dumb house, or are like you. And something about you makes Rhey talk to you. I guess what Iâm asking for is some leverage.â
âAnd thatâs exactly what stealing can get you.â She sighed. Charna knowingly gave the Legume the benefit of the doubt here, but apparently sheâd given him too much credit. âYou want information, then give her something that she wants. If she doesnât want anything, then you take something she already has. Frame it with some pretty words and sheâll be eating right out of the palm of your hand.â
That might have been an exaggeration, and she might have a little more respect in the self-proclaimed âprincessââ eyes than June probably ever would, but she was trying to be generous here. Give him some hope and all that. Besides, you never knew, it might work. When hell froze over, sure, but depending on who you asked that wasnât entirely impossible.

âDoes such a thing exist?â Eniola knew she wasnât talking to anyone in particular, but Charna was talking and the thought was intriguing,âI think a three-hundred gold dress might be a bit heavy.â
Of course the news of Auradonâs latest event was irking her to no end, but she had her own problems to deal with instead of worrying about them.
Eniola, now she was hard to miss, with her cane tip-tapping along wherever she went. An less-than-fortunate ailment, but not one she could help.
âYou know what I meant.â She stated, vaguely strained as she pulled herself through the small gap in the partially open window. Opening up her pockets, she left what little she had been able to grab that day in a somewhat secure location - one that wasnât easily seen from the outside, should thieves take a peek, but should be relatively easy for the family to spot - before pulling herself back out again.
âIt just seems, whatâs that word again? Fri, fro, fizz? Friv...?â

Harry had been nearby, and always the one to eavesdrop listened in on her ranting. He found himself agreeing with her, approaching with a wide grin on his face. âAre ya talkinâ about that Castle coming thing? Seems to be a popular conversation today.â He mused to her. âIâd rather dance with anyone on the Isle rather than a pretty pink princess or prince.â

Harry had always been one of the few people on the Isle capable of sneaking up on her, so while she despised the slight jump she gave at the announcement of his presence, she tried her best to play it off.
âYeah, I wonder why.â She grumbled, walking past Harry. âItâs not like that money could go to something more useful. Like, you know, making sure people donât starve.â
Turning back to face the âpirateâ, she couldnât help but allow herself to have a little fun with his question. âWe have better moves, thatâs for damn sure. Sounds like you have someone in mind, though. Wouldnât happen to be our little resident choir boy, now would it?â
Do you miss anyone on the isle?
Yea I do, I was on the Isle for a few weeks and realized I really miss @askcharredchild , @askatremaine ,and @asklejuin . I know itâs stupid but they are the closet things I have to friends there.
Really? âCause you sure have a funny way of showing it.
I, I miss you too, Maddie.

Charna wasnât quite sure why sheâd chosen this exact moment to rant. Then again, she supposed that she always got a bit touchy whenever Auradon Prep announed an event like this. Not that she could think of a single other Isle student who didnât do the same.
âWhatâs the point of âdancesâ anyway? You can dance in your own damn time - no three-hundred gold dress required.â
What do you think about the other gods on the Isle, like Hades and his mortal niece,Ursula?
âInsignificant, just like the rest of us.â

Do you really think Ivah might have a good future in her current living place?
âDo any of us?â
Would you like to go to Auradon?
âI burned my acceptance letter, what do you think?â
askmusclebrainâ:
âWhy do you call her as such? She has a name you know. I think it is very rude to just reduce her to a spawn.â
âReduce her? Thatâs her actual name. You do know that, right?â

Harry snickered at this, finding her little jab rather funny. He wasnât sure if she had meant it in that way but he didnât care.
âAm I not allowed to wander from the docks?â He asked, toying with his hook. âThough I hadnât meant to run into ye if yer worried I was stalking ya.â

âDidnât think Shelly let your leash that loose, but maybe youâre more independent than I gave you credit for.â
Charna took a few, purposeful steps closer to the pirate. She didnât want to get within range of that hook, but she couldnât look like she was afraid of it either.

Strictly speaking, June didnât know exactly what had caused Charna to disappear for so long, but it was no secret she helped out kids around the Isle as often as she could, going as far as to burn her Auradon acceptance letter in a fit of over-dramatic fashion. Either way, the girl was shady, and everyone knew it. She didnât talk to anyone, didnât trust anyone. As was expected on the Isle. He didnât know if Charna could help, but sheâd been helping herself long enough, and you miss 100% of the shots you donât take.
âI want dirt on the Horned Princess,â June laid it out on the line, he wasnât here for small talk. There were probably much smarter ways he couldâve gotten information out of Charna, but a big, doofy Legume probably wouldnât mince words so much, âI know youâve gotten some potions out of them in the past, I want something out of them this time, but Rhedyn thinks Iâm just there to flirt with them and wonât listen to me. I need some pull.â
Now that certainly sparked her interest. âDepends what you want out of her. Having some kind of leverage usually works, but itâs hard to get a hold on something that she really wants. Stealingâs usually your best bet, but since youâre here Iâm going to assume that itâs not your strong suit.â
Typically she wouldnât hand out this kind of help freely, not to someone like June anyway. Their dad aside, the Legumes typically did quite well for themselves, and there were people who needed her attention a hell of a lot more than they did. But for that exact same reason she didnât really keep up with them a whole lot, and if he was desperate enough to seek out the âdemon childâ and âice princessâ of the Isle, then it was probably serious.

Harry came out of his hiding spot rather easily, figuring he really had nothing to hide. He had been exploring mostly, not exactly having much to do with Uma being grounded.
âYea but I was âere for awhile but ya didnât notice.â Harry mused with a grin, holding his hands up in defeat.

âOr maybe I just let you stand there, like an idiot.â So maybe sheâd been getting a little rusty, but that wasnât something she was about to readily admit. Especially not to someone as potentially dangerous as Harry Hook.
âAny particular reason you flopped out of the water, or did you just want to bother me?â

Though it wasnât a place he liked to hang around much, June found himself gravitating to the outer edges of the Isle that afternoon. After just about the worst interaction heâd had with Rhedyn in years, he decided to go to one of the other smart people he knew on the Isle. Charnaâs intellgence was that of a far different caliber than Rhedynâs, but maybe itâd be of use.
âYou suck at being found,â He rolled his eyes at the girl and her knife. Though he and Charna had known each other by name for a while, she was still one of many people he considered it safer to act like a big brutish oaf around, âHey, Yaga.â
June - or, should she say Gaston Jr. - was probably the last person sheâd expected to run into out here. But as far as threats went, he wasnât exactly one of them. Well, not towards her, anyway.
âHey yourself, Legume.â Standing up, she made a point of putting the knife away, albeit slowly. âWhat do you want?â
Part of her wanted to think that heâd wandered out here by accident and just happened to run into her. The same part that hoped that people didnât know that sheâd been camping out here since the incident. But since she knew very well that the latter of those two was incorrect, it was only safe to assume that the former was as well.
