Paranoid Anon

As I mentioned in my last few posts, I’m thinking of rebooting the whole blog from the start with better understanding of where the plot is going and how to get there. I’ve decided this is the route I want to take, but unfortunately my time constraints are still in place so posts may still folllow my original month long hiatus schedule. Anyone who followed the blog is probably used to it by now, though it’s still something I wish I could promise would get better.

Going forward, I’m going to make a separate blog for the reboot as planned, as well as make a few design changes to the main cast. I’ve been working on them here and there and still might change a few things before the new blog is up and running. Here’s a peek at the main two:

As you can see, Anon takes more inspiration from her design later in the blogs lifespan. Originally I didn’t have a concret idea of the story’s endgame, so Anon just had her official design that I occasionally removed elements from depending on how lazy I was feeling. This is generally how she’ll look from here on out, inconsistent artstyle aside.

As for Cul, she’s another of the key characters in the blog right from the start. In the original story, Cul was added haphazardly as a result of picking asks from the Vocaloid Amino, where people knew I shipped AnoCul and assumed Cul would be present in the story. This was kinda a mistake on my part, but I rolled with it and now I know for sure what Cul’s role is and how to reflect that in her design. It might see a few more changes before the reboot kicks off, but I’ve narrowed down the basics.

I’m currently working on locking down the story beats, so it’ll be a while yet before you all might hear from me again. The premise of the story has been expanded, so rather than working with a singular room for Anon to interact with, it’ll instead be an entire house for her to roam around. I’m really looking forward to all we can do with this new setup, and I hope you guys can have fun with it to!

I have a hard time drawing characters just kinda..standing, so I run into the issue a lot of wanting them to be doing something more dynamic, but not actually having the ability to draw that way.

That’s my reasoning for why Anon is picking at her clothes, anyway.

Do not perceive Cul.

I wanted to try and draw them more “canon accurate”, at least in regards to their hair. It’s a struggle, but I figure if I draw them enough I’ll just get used to it.

((Ask box is clear!! It was a long time coming, but this blog is finally at its end! Kinda. I still have the reboot planned for the future, but I’m starting to get busy again so I’m not sure when I’ll get it up and running.

I still haven’t gotten the redesigns nailed down, but I kinda used this post as a springboard for what Cul’s design might look like, though that wasn’t my intention going into it, whoops. Cul is definitely going to play an antagonist role in the future, but she’s still soft for Anon. My AnoCul loving heart dies hard. :’)

Hopefully I can find the time to start working on the blog again soon. I haven’t been drawing much since the last time the blog went quiet, so this has been pretty refreshing.

Although Culnoza is always chosen as her family’s representative, I can’t help but think sometimes… is this the last time I’ll see her?

I don’t know what I would do, should the day come where she doesn’t make it back. I think…

I’ve picked up a thing or two from watching other versions of myself over the years, whereas Culnoza...learned them out of spite, I’m pretty sure.

I wish I had made more connections back when the community was still active, but it’s nice to see a few familiar faces are still up and kicking around.

I’m starting to lean into the idea of a reboot for this blog, but first I’m going to work on clearing out the remaining asks in the ask blog, shouldn’t take me too long. Hopefully.

I’m also going to be playing around with redesigns, though I might not use them depending on how they turn out. My ideas for Cul in particular might be too difficult for me given my current art level. :’)

I’ve started messing around with my concept for Anon’s reboot design, but it honestly didn’t change much. The only thing I knew going into it is that I wanted Anon to have white streaks in her hair from stress, but everything is still prone to change.

Since it’s a reboot, all the progress she made in getting out of her room is reset, so we’ll be seeing a return to the blogs roots. Anon hasn’t looked this human in years.

((I have compiled every noticeable change in artstyle over the course of the blog, though I can’t remember why. 2020-2021 experienced the most change I think, but it was specifically in the later half’s.

Seeing the change is kinda wild ngl. I remember I used to rush every drawing in the beginning because I wanted to be able to update twice a day, and the quality definitely suffered for it, but at the same time it taught me to find work arounds in my style.

I don’t think I would have improved so much if not for this blog, so that’s neat. I’m looking forward to dabbling a bit more with the designs in the future, assuming I go through with that reboot.))

((Obligatory “wow it’s been so long” post haha. I sketched this drawing out back in 2021 but only just now got around to finishing it. Time really flies doesn’t it?

I meant to come back to the blog sooner, but a lot of irl stuff kept popping up that made it a bit difficult to prioritize, hence why it’s been a year since I’ve been active. Sadly I don’t think I’ll be making a full come back either.

I’ve become really busy over the past year and juggling everything is a bit difficult, but every now and again I think of this blog and have the urge to do something with it. I really want to continue it in some way, but I know I won’t commit to writing a fanfic and I don’t have the motivation for a comic. Plus, the plot is all over the place and I kinda sorta wanna reboot the whole thing.

I’ve been thinking about it for a while, and even though I know it’ll probably get dropped and picked up again at random again, now that I know where the story is actually going, I want to give it a fresh start.

That’s not to say I’m for sure going to restart, I’d probably make a second blog since I don’t want to rebuild on top of this one anyway, but maybe when I find the time it could be a little pet project.

The story might end up different depending on how I want to go about it, but I’ll probably lean more into the paranoid side of paranoid Anon next time around. That whole thing kinda fell to the wayside after awhile and I’d like to build more off of it. Which might take us in a completely different direction character dynamic wise. Perhaps might lean into the Villain Cul concept some more..

But besides that, I just wanted to check in and say hi; see if the community is still around. I can’t believe this blog is around four-ish years old. Like, that’s crazy.

Is that one of those human “seasons” I’ve heard so much about? I still have yet to figure out what the purpose of those are...is it similar to our solstice?

I suppose this means I’ll have to stop hogging the spotlight on Anon’s blog now haha.

((My plan of drawing nothing but Anon to the point where people think she’s my own creation is finally coming to fruition. Aw yis. Soon she will belong to me.

But to be fair, with the way I draw them—I don’t think anyone would know who they are off first glance. Especially since I still haven’t figured out Anon’s hair after all these years, and Cul is just every red haired anime girl ever. Kanon kinda looks like Neru though, since I always forget her highlights exist.

I haven’t drawn their Vocaloid designs in so long I had to pull up multiple references, heck. Did you know Cul has heels?? I sure didn’t.

Also I’ve been adamantly refusing to draw Anon’s clunky shoes for almost four years so like, she’s reacting appropriately to them I’d say.

First off, I’m glad you like the blog so far!! It’s been a mess right from the start but it’s something that I’m passionate about so it’s nice to know others enjoy it too ^^

Secondly, I actually have considered adding Rosa into the lore before. Right when I discovered Cul suddenly had like six canon siblings, I struggled to piece together what I could and decided I would wait until Rosa’s design was confirmed before doing anything. Which I kinda forgot all about (but somehow didn’t forget Wet Crow, Cul’s apparent twin) and moved on without really thinking too much into it.

I think I might actually add her in to replace Akikoloid as the youngest Chura sibling, since she’s yet to make an actual appearance other then her silhouette. If so, she’ll have a very minor role at most and not be focused on too much.

The other canon siblings won’t be added in this blog unfortunately since we don’t know anything about them other then their color schemes, and Wet Crow. Although Wet Crow kinda exists in the lore? Though unintentional, I did have plans for Cul’s backstory that preceded the reveal of her canon siblings, so like, a dark haired version of Cul exists here, but no, it’s not her twin.

I did sketch a rough design for Rosa also, so there’s that. I’ll have to workshop it a bit more since she kinda just looks like Neru to me; her outfit needs some adjustment. Assuming she is going to take over the youngest sibling role, I can’t say too much about her that isn’t a spoiler for Cul’s arc.

I actually did check there to see if it was archived after finding out the site got deleted, but I have no idea how to work the site so I can’t say for sure.

I think at least 16 captures of it exist from what I remember, so maybe the link for their model download exists somewhere in there. Otherwise we’ve lost them to the void and that’s kinda just depressing to think about.
