"Tch... seriously?"
Jin stares at the text Tohma forwarded him in annoyance. Darkwick had assigned the vice-captain to a side project that would consume a significant chunk of his free time. That meant Tohma would be unavailable late afternoon and into the evening for the next few weeks.
But more importantly, it meant that Jin would be without extra assistance for the time being.
What if he needed cigarettes from the convenience store at late hours? Who would respond to emails, be present for mission follow-ups, or handle tedious documentation thrown his way? He had yet to officially hire anyone else for so much as menial tasks, besides the honor student. And she wasn't even on a payroll.
Jin would need to look for someone that would be willing to work for him for the time being. And with Tohma gone, that meant he would need to be the one that would host the interview process. Back at home, the captain rarely dictated who ended up being assigned to work for him; he would only have a say in the longevity of their employment. That being said, he never directly moderated a hire-on procedure.
How hard could it really be?
