I'm Dawn, and this is my own little weblog. Apparently people use these like "online diaries", so I guess that's what this is?
My inbox is open, in case you have any questions or want to talk. Think of it a bit like an advice column featuring yours truly!
[OOC]
I figured I should include some additional info about this blog, soooo...
It's basically meant to act like a blog run by Dawn Venture, with a mix of answering questions and creating posts about various goings-on. I imagine she would treat it like a weird middle-ground between a diary and a new Venture Home News, if that makes any sense lol
This blog takes place sometime after the events of the movie, when Dawn has recently come out. I should probably also clarify, this is a transfem depiction of Dean Venture, hence the different name
(She totally knows how to run a blog, trust)
This is just a fun little thing run by @dawnward-spiral. I might draw stuff for it but I think it's going to be primarily text-based? Depends on the situation
Guidelines
Since it's meant to be an actual blog in-character, asks physically interacting in some way aren't gonna work. Please don't try to throw bricks at her loll
I am fine with asks from other characters/other blogs that are in-character though, that can be fun :] (and presently i do not have any established connections to other blogs)
Please be patient! If you send something, I will get to it eventually!
That being said, I may choose to not answer an ask if it feels inappropriate for the blog. As long as you're having common decency, this shouldn't be an issue though lol

if you could dress like or wear anything without social or financial consequences how would you dress?
I'm still figuring out what I actually like, but so far it's not super different from how I already dressed! Kind of. I still like looking sharp, but I get to play with things I never would've before. Mainly skirts and more accessories!
They aren't the easiest to find, but there's some really nice 60s dresses that I'd love to try... That falls a little under your second question.
Oh, and tights are pretty fun too! You can get some nice colors and patterns to work with. Really brings an outfit together.
This recent picture should give a better idea than I'm describing:
I normally use a little more color, but it gets the idea across. :)
hey dean sorry if this has been asked before but i noticed that like for a while before you transitioned you were trying to grow out a mustache and a beard. i (also a trans girl) went through a similar phase (my government ID i got when i was like 17 still has the most embarrassing neck beard lol) where i kinda thought i might start to like my masculinity more if i had facial hair...somehow? im wondering what was your thought process behind not shaving at the time?
so so so so SO sorry if this was invasive or weird as a strange im not entitled to this information at all, so don't feel pressured to answer this.
I don't mind! It's, well, not a question I expected, but I'm fine talking about it. I was going through... A lot of stuff at the time, and I thought it would make me feel more adult and masculine, haha. Like if I just embraced that idea, maybe I would feel better about who I was?
Anyway, I realized it wasn't working for me after a while.
Wow, it's sure been a while since I updated this thing. I guess I'm not super used to having an Internet presence. Even if my classes are partially to blame.
I'm stuck at home with a cold (seriously, in the summer? How is that fair?) and, well, I realized it had been a while. And it's something to do. Maybe I can come up with more things to write about... What do people normally write?
Who is your favourite Super hero, real or comic or movie?
I've always been partial to Spider-Man, so he's still my first fictional choice. As for the real ones... Considering Brown Widow is the closest we'll likely get to a real-life Spider-Man, it feels only fair to mention him. Plus, unlike some New York-based heroes, he doesn't seem to be in it for money. Not sure how well-known he is outside of NYC, though.

This took a bit of thought, at first I was ready to concede that nothing is especially easy. But! Well, I realized the socializing aspect was in some ways easier than I expected. It must help that, going into it, everyone is new and doesn't have strong expectations about each other. So, just being friendly can go a long way!
Realistically, it could be nice to have a cat. Or maybe something like a bird, they have such a long lifespan! But it feels weird to keep something that wants to fly freely cooped up in a house for its whole life. :(
If I was being more out-there, it would sure be neat to own a whole farm or ranch of some kind. I'm not sure whether that technically qualifies as having pets anymore...
On the topic of out-there pets, I did (very briefly) have a giraffe, which was not practical at all. After they returned him to the zoo I would go and visit him sometimes, I hope he's still doing okay.
Well, that's about all for this one! Thanks for asking,
I understand why people like spicy things. It's better than something being too bland... But my personal tolerance leaves much to be desired, let's put it that way.
Oh, and, I meant to get to these far sooner! You know how it is with school sometimes.
I found an abandoned kitten outside my apartment. I felt super bad for it and took him in. He's doing super well and is super loving. But my parents don't know about him. Do you have any advice on how to convince them to let me keep him?
Gee, that's a tough situation. It reminds me of when I took care of a raccoon in secret for a little while... Which did not end well. Do not try to replace your dog with a wild animal. However! I might have some useful insights.
The fact that he's a kitten and is super friendly already helps! People are going to be a lot more receptive to something "well-behaved", usually. If you can prove you're able to care for him on top of that, that already makes for a pretty strong case (in my opinion). I may be biased, but I hope your parents would see it the same way.
If they really won't, maybe you could find another home for the cat? I hope it doesn't come to that.
Point being, the best you can do is appeal to their empathy, and be able to back up why you should be allowed to keep him around. And just, you know, hope they're willing to listen.
Actually, that isn't an area I'm super knowledgeable in! Yet.
From what I do know... Eyeliner is a little tricky, but fun! As long as you don't poke yourself in the eye. By accident, obviously. Or on purpose, but no one would do that. I hope.
It's something I want to learn more about. Maybe I can give an update when I have more to say about it...

You really think I'm a "snazzy" dresser? Well, thank you, kind but anonymous reader! I wasn't aware that I classified as one, so I don't know how that happened...
Maybe giving the sweater vests a rest helped, my brother has said they look dorky before. I still think they can work.
What advice would you have for a reader that has never left home starting school in a scary city?
Well, my anonymous reader, big changes like that can often be pretty daunting. On top of that, school has a serious learning curve. I know I had to adapt to a lot of things pretty quickly, but I promise it's possible!
A big thing is planning and routine. If you know what you need to be doing, it's a lot easier to stay on top of it all. Plans don't always go to, well, plan, but you can always work around the costumed freaks interrupting your grocery trip.
Also, finding support from other people. You shouldn't expect to do everything on your own now. Even if your family isn't there for you, you can always make friends and be there for each other. If your family is also there for you, that's great too.
Those are the main things I can think of, I hope that's helpful!
Well, I've definitely made at least one! We met before I started university, so it was a funny coincidence meeting up again there. We got way closer after reacquainting at school, and even became roommates when I moved on-campus last year. That was cool.
Due to some... Changing circumstances, we are no longer roommates. But we still keep in touch!
Most other friends aren't as close, but I did recently join a book club! Hopefully I can make some more friends through that.
I'm still figuring out how this whole "blogging" thing works. It's more public than a real diary, but with a certain level of closeness. It's hard to be sure what the right balance is.
But in the spirit of a diary, here's the latest with me:
Classes have just started back up, so I'm adjusting to the new schedule. I appreciate the structure it brings, and meeting people my own age. Seriously, I'm no social butterfly, but it's nice. I would trade being dragged to kingdom come for public school, in a heartbeat.
I don't know what demographics my readers are, but I imagine most of you are or were in school. I know not everyone shares my feelings about it, I'm curious how many people would agree or not.
That's all I can think of for now, I'll be sure to continue updating!
Whatβs your favorite breakfast food? Mine is biscuits and gravy :3
I would definitely have to say waffles. Or pancakes. Or omelettes, you can put so many different things in those! It's tricker than I thought to pick just one...
Though, usually I just make cereal because it's faster.

If you became a Caterpillar like your father did once, what would you look like? Furthermore, what would the end result of becoming a Butterfly look like for you? Would you be a pretty Butterfly? :3
I don't know how you heard about that, but I hope I'd never become one. All those little legs... Yuck.
If I had to become a butterfly, though, the mourning cloak (or nymphalis antiopa!) would be nice. They have distinctive maroon wings with a lighter border and blue spots, it's quite pretty! They are also one of the longest-living species of butterflies in North America, living for up to a full year. Isn't that neat?
I'm finally trying out blogging, just in time for the new year. Well, a few days into the new year. I hope my posts can be informative and entertaining!
