On August 9, 2013 at approximately 7:40am I entered my first day of high school. I went through the motions of the day, soaking up everything around me. "This year is going to be different", I though, "this is the beginning of a whole new chapter". My thoughts were very much true. I started my day with environmental science, then onto math, and thirdly to drama one. I had always loved acting and singing, but being shy had held me back tremendously. However, this class would change me in many ways. I entered "The Warehouse" having no clue as to what to expect, and when I walked through the doors of the workshop, what was before was like nothing I had expected. The people in this class weren't like the people I hung out with on a regular basis. We all had different backgrounds, different senses of style, and most obvious of all, different personalities, yet we all brought to the table something essential for completing the task at hand. When I walked into that classroom on that early August day in 2013, I had no clue how much this teacher and these people that I would have never seen myself hanging out with would end up meaning to me. Drama gave me a sense of belonging. The people who surrounded me provided me with a sense of security and helped me to embrace my talents. So now here I am two years later, singing my second musical theatre piece at our annual Fall Cabaret, and dating the greatest guy I could have ever dreamt of all thinks to the love and support from Mrs. Ware and my freshman drama class.
