Even if Kane himself didn't know about the abuse, as he claims, his immediate response was to vouch for the character of then-GM Stan Bowman. Although he later recanted this statement and apologized, I think his initial response says a lot about the culture he was apart of and the way men in hockey will close ranks around those accused of misdeeds. (Worth noting that Toews' statement was even worse. He outright denied that Bowman or MacIsaac were complicit in the situation.)

I'm not going to get into his 2015 sexual assault allegations, which he never had charges pressed against him for due to a lack of evidence. I think that even without those, it is clear that Kane was part of a very toxic locker room culture in the early 2010s, and he's not the kind of guy you want to bring in to mentor a team of young players. The 2010s Chicago Blackhawks had a win-at-all-costs mentality which Kyle Beach (and several unnamed victims) paid the price for. That is not a culture you should be attempting to replicate.
