Within the last month I have become completely obsessed with Del Toro Shoes. I think if my assistants have to hear me talk about them one more time they are going to kill me. I first came to know the brand though Instagram and was able to see them in person when I attended Project NYC a few weeks ago. Their line of both men’s and women’s shoes is absolutely amazing.

For guys they are an easy to way dress up a great pair of jeans and button down shirt to go out in on a Friday night. For ladies, pair one of their slippers with a skinny jean and t-shirt or fun blazer for an effortlessly put-together look. For those of you who have lost your cool factor, these are an instant hit. Alright men...let me give you the low down on that collection of soft, well-worn graphic t-shirts that you just absolutely adore. Unless you are 25 years old or younger, these go-to staples are no longer appropriate for everyday use. I will give you a moment of silence to come to terms with this difficult fact and to mentally prepare yourself to move forward into adulthood. 

Let's talk about what I mean by graphic T's so no one is confused (and no shirt gets left behind when you take your pile to goodwill this weekend.) Any t-shirt that has billabong or any other surfer brand plastered across the front, any sports teams and especially any food brands or restaurants. With the exception of wearing your favorite team's shirt to a game and showing your team pride, these graphic t's are otherwise unacceptable. 

To those men who are in their 30's and 40's, and for heaven sakes those who are older and still trying to sport this juvenile style, it is not making you look younger. It is not making you look cool. It makes you look like you are trying too hard to look young. We know you are a "cool dad," no need to dress like your teenager! 

For those who are single and still looking for that special someone, no one wants to bring their boyfriend home to meet Mom with a graphic that says “Waffle House”. Enough said. 

The most important reason to ditch these old friends goes back to my belief that style is ones personal advertisement. It tells the world who you are and what you care about. Do you really want to be perceived as caring about Lucky Charms, Howard Johnson hotel chains and Rocky and Bullwinkle? 

 So the next time you are out and about and feel like you need to pick up some t-shirts, choose a nice sold v-neck. Brands like James Perse, Todd Snyder or even the Gap make great alternatives to what you just donated to goodwill. Trust me, they are just as soft, just as comfortable and just as easy to throw on. The upside is that you look much more put together and you are allowing others to focus on your face and your personality other than that heinous graphic.
