This would be disgusting had they done it to any other show, but the fact that it was done to Banana Fish, which is a show set IN THE UNITED STATES, is just insane to me.

It is also a slap in the face, not just to the fans of the show, but to the voice actor community. This move conveys that the execs at Prime think that the garbage gen AI voice that they used is comparable to the absolutely PHENOMENAL performance done by the fantastic Yuma Uchida and Kenji Nojima, as well as the rest of the amazing voice acting cast.

The anime adaptation of Banana Fish was as well-loved as it is, by both the old fans and the new, because the VAs deliverer such an emotionally hitting performance. I could just sit and listen to the lines, without subtitles, and bawl my eyes out.

Their emotions, their connections to the characters they played, and the love and care that they put into each line they delivered, no shitty computer generated AI slop can replicate that.
