I found your blog after seeing your analysis posts there's something I've always thought about and I want your insight what do you think queen aemmas religion was
Hi anon!
God it's been a hot minute since I've done a deep dive post/analysis post so give grace I'm a bit rusty.
For me I always thought and believed Aemma followed the Faith of the Seven. There are a lot of reasons for this so I'll explain.
Firstly the Vale is a HIGHLY religious place. They follow the Seven and are seen as some of the most pious of the realms because they are so strick with their faith. Aemma was raised in the Vale, she was raised with this religion. It would make sense for her to follow it to some extent.
Secondly I often find the argument of her following the Fourteen strange. The only reason is cause she's Valyrian. But what about Queen Naerys? King Baelor The Blessed? They were Valyrian, they were Targaryens, yet they followed the Seven. That argument kinda dies when you think about that.
And finally I find the argument and confusion of why some Targs followed the Seven over the Fourteen kinda strange if I'm honest. Because that's like being confused why someone from Greece is Christian. Why don't they follow a dead or practically dead religion? Why did they give that up for one of the most popular religions? Or why Egyptians don't follow their old/dead religion instead of being Muslim. The Fourteen is a dead/dying religion. And where the Targaryens live now don't follow it at all, the most prominent religion is the Seven. So yeah if the question comes up and there is no clear answer for what they believe, I'm always going to choose the Seven because of its immense influence in Westeros.

DANCE OF DRAGONS- THE VALE
The Vale sided with Queen Rhaenrya during the war, with the Lady Jeyne Arryn honoring their agreement. In exchange, they were granted a baby dragon and the Prince Joffery was sent to ward there, as well as Rhaena Velaryon.
MENS FASHION
Under their clothes, men wore a linen chemise and loose, baggy trousers. Over this, a wool tunic was worn. Smallfolk men wore knee-length ones, while highborn lords wore floor or ankle-length tunics. The sleeves were pushed up on these to create a ripple effect. Long stocking hose were worn on the legs, which were secured to the under-trousers or a belt. Over all this, a cloak or mantle was worn, one that was fastened at one shoulder. Simple ankle-length turnshoes were worn, as well as belts to carry personal items.
MENS HAIRSTYLES
Highborn lords wore their hair in a shoulder to chin length bob. Smallfolk had their hair cropped to just above the ears. Religious men wore their hair in a tonsure, which is shaving the top of the head and having hair grow around it in a circle. During the start of the Dance, men wore full beards, but by the end, they wanted a more clean-shaven look. However, they still kept well groomed mustaches and a well trimmed beard. Men wore linen coifs (caps) to protect their hair from the elements.
WOMENS FASHION
Under their clothes, a linen chemise was worn. Then, a tunic called a bliaut was worn. These were cut across to fit tightly over the ribs and stomach and sometimes had side-lacing. The sleeves were fitted at the upper arm and then tapered off to wide, floor-length funnels. These tunics were secured with a decorative belt, which was tied at the waist and the ends hung to the floor. Smallfolk women wore a loose wool cloak over this, but highborn ladies could afford squirrel or rabbit fur-lined mantles. The shoes were similar to the men, simple leather turnshoes.
UNMARRIED WOMENS HAIRSTYLES
Hair was worn long and uncovered, and usually in two long braids. Highborn ladies wove ribbons, silk, or pearls into their plaits and wore metal circles or floral wreaths to decorate their hair.
MARRIED WOMENS HAIRSTYLES
Hair was pulled back into two braids or a bun and then tucked into a cap or silken hairnet. Over this, a linen barbette was worn, which is a band that passes under the chin and then pinned at the top of the head. Over it a fillet (a stiffened circlet or band) worn at the forehead. Finally, it was topped with a veil or kerchief. Older married women favored a wimple.

DANCE OF DRAGONS- THE IRON ISLANDS
Despite the fact that the Greens offered Dalton Greyjoy a position as Master of Ships, he stayed firm in his support of Rhaenrya Targaryen, and sacked quite a few places in her name. Since we all know we're not using the 12th century fashion in the Iron Islands, this tike period is late 9th century Viking fashion.
MENS FASHION
Under their clothes, men typically wore a linen or wool undershirt. Over this, a long-sleeved, knee-length tunic was worn. Smallfolk wore plain ones, while highborn lords decorated theirs with woven bands or embroidery. Men wore both loose and tight trousers, and often wore leg wraps that were wound from ankle to knee. In winter months, men would wear heavy woolen or fur cloaks which were circular in shape. These were fastened at the right shoulder with iron or bronze brooches depending on wealth/reaving status. Simple turnshoes were worn on feet, and in the winter they wore woolen socks. Belts were also common, which carried a man's personal belongings.
MENS HAIRSTYLES
A soldier's hair was cut in the 'Norman style' during this time, keeping their hair long on the top of their heads and shaving everything else. Their hair was often worn in ponytails, braids, or even a bun. Beards were a must, as they were a symbol of masculinity. Simple woolen caps were also very common.
WOMENS FASHION
Under their clothes, they wore a woolen or linen shift. In some places, such as Pyke, these shifts were pleated. Over their outfits, a tube-shaped apron dress was worn that reached mid-calf or ankle. These were fastened with shoulder straps and secured with two oval brooches (material depending on wealth/reaving status). These dresses were dyed earthy tones, but highborn ladies could afford brighter colors. Strings of glass and amber beads were hung between the brooches, and on these strings were a woman's personal items as well. Women wore heavy woolen shawls, rectangular cloaks, and sometimes fur-lined jackets fastened at their front with smaller brooches. Footwear was similar to the men, simple turnshoes.
UNMARRIED WOMENS HAIRSTYLES
Unmarried women wore their hair uncovered, and often wore it in one or two braids, with highborn ladies weaving in ribbons or metal threads during special events. During more formal occasions, women wore a stiffened linen band/metal circlet which was known as the kransen in viking times, but i think in westeros it would be super cool to call it the kraken. If you cant really get a gist of it from the photo it looks a lot like Astrid's headband from How to Train Your Dragon.
MARRIED WOMEN HAIRSTYLES
Married women had to have their hair covered. They would coil their hair up into a top knot, and pinned to head. Highborn ladies secured their hair with ribbons, beads, or crafted bone pins. Over their hair a cap or a length of linen was worn.
DANCE OF DRAGONS- THE NORTH
The North, lead by Cregan Stark, had bowed to Rhaenrya first when she was named heir, and they honored their promise to back her against any threat. The North were fearsome fighters, and were graced with a visit from Prince Jacaerys. Cregan even stood in as a guiding figure when Aegon III was on the throne, helping to put the pieces of Westeros back together.
MENS FASHION
Under their clothes, men wore knee-length linen or hemp tunics and drawstring trousers. A woolen or linen outertunic/kirtle was worn which was knee or mid-calf length and was cinched at the waist with a woven or leather belt. Highborn lords had these decorated with embroidery at the neck, hem, and shoulders. Belts were also often decorated with brass or silver buckles. Men wore puttees, which were strips of cloth or wool wrapped around their legs. Men also wore heavy woolen or fur-lined cloaks. Highborn lords often wore kaftans which were decorated with silk braids and metal buttons. Shoes were simple, made out of soft leather, woven bark, or felt. The wealthy wore jewelry; torques (necklaces), bracelets, and temple rings.
MENS HAIRSTYLES
There were three styles commonly seen throughout the North during this time. I imagine up North closer to the Wall, men wore a Czupryna style. This was the head shaved on the back and sides above the ears. The top was left longer, and could feature a center tuft, tuft, or even a mohawk. Everywhere else, smallfolk men had a pot-cut, which was made by putting a pot on their heads and cutting around it. So like a bowl cut to us. Highborn lords kept their hair long, coming down to either chin or shoulder length. Facial hair was a sign of masculinity. Men could wear it in anyway, fine groomed mustaches or bushy beards, all were common.
WOMENS FASHION
Under their clothes, a long and loose-fitting chemise was worn. It was made out of linen in summer and heavy wool in winter. Over this, smallfolk women wore a wraparound skirt (poneva) or a jumper-style dress (sarafan). These were cinched at the waist with woven or braided belts. Highborn ladies wore a longer, decorated tunic (talaris). They had elaborate collars decorated with pearls, gold, and silver threads. Shoes were similar to the men. In the winter women wore their dresses fur-lined and wore heavy sheepskin cloaks.
UNMARRIED WOMEN HAIRSTYLES
Unmarried women wore their hair long and loose, and in one single braid. These braids were decorated with ribbons which showed off a girl's romance status. If a ribbon was braided into the top of the braid, she was fully single and looking to get suitors. If there were multiple ribbons braided into the middle of the braid, she was in a relationship. Women often wore headbands and wreaths of flowers, and ribbons tied around their foreheads to decorate their heads as well. It was common to wear temple rings as well, which were woven into their hair or attached to their headbands and worn near the ears.
MARRIED WOMEN HAIRSTYLES
During the wedding ceremony, a woman's one braid was taken out and her hair was braided into two braids, showing her new marital status. Married women wrapped their braids around their heads and covered it with a linen cap or bonnet like a kichka or a povoynik. These were then covered with a veil or a scarf. Highborn women attached metallic pendants to their headwear, which would hang down and frame their headdresses.
AEGON'S CONQUEST- DORNE
Although the dragonlords came at them full-force, Dorne, leas by Meriah Martell, refused to give up. In one battle, they even managed to kill Queen Rhaenys and her dragon. While Aegon and Meriah's son eventually made a sort of peace, Dorne was not yet part of Targaryen's rule.
MENS FASHION
Under their clothes, men wore a long-sleeved knee length tunic. Over this, a long and loose-fitting garment with wide sleeves was worn. Baggy drawstring trousers were also common, and these gathered at the ankle. They wore pretty embroidered slippers, sandals, or leather boots.
MENS HAIRSTYLES
Actually all men, whether smallfolk or highborn, had their hair short or cropped. However, during the end of Aegon's reign, their hair began to become a bit longer due to outside influences (the other kingdoms). Hair was usually covered with a turban. The color and style of the headwear depended on wealth and status. Beards and mustaches were common, as they were a sign of manliness.
WOMENS FASHION
Under their clothes, women would wear a long-sleeved chemise and loose-drawstring trousers. Over this, an ankle to floor length tunic was worn, with long narrow sleeves. Highborn ladies wore silk tunics with intricate gold threading, while smallfolk just wore a simple wool or linen one. Goatskin boots and shoes were worn on the feet. Highborn ladies had access to ornate jewelry and waist ties, which bunched fabric together and cinched the waist. Women often wore red henna on their hands, arms, and feet.
UNMARRIED WOMENS HAIRSTYLES
There were two main hairstyles during this time period. One was women curling their hair into tight locks to look like snakes. Another is braiding hair into very long plaits. Sometimes both hairstyles were done. In public spaces, unmarried women frequently wore scarves, veils, or even turbans on their heads. Sometimes a fillet was used to keep hair in place as well.
MARRIED WOMEN HAIRSTYLES
Women had their hair braided intricately and then twisted into tight buns under their headdresses. These braids could often be decorated with ribbons and silk or gold threads. It was popular to allow curls to frame their face from under their headcoverings. Over their hair, women wore veils that covered their heads, neck, and even the bottom half of their faces, leaving only the eyes visible. They secured these veils using fine fabrics or under caps.
AEGON'S CONQUEST- THE STORMLANDS
The Storm King refused to kneel to the Targaryens, and was defeated. However, his daughter claimed his seat and would not bend the knee. In the end, she was defeated and brought to Orys Baratheon, who decided to marry her and became Lord of Storm's End.
MENS FASHION
Under their outfits, men wore a linen undershirt and loose-fitting linen breeches or shorts. Over this, a long-sleeved tunic was worn, which was knee-length. Highborn lords wore floor-length ones. Men wore woolen hose tied at the waist. During the winter or when traveling, men wore a semi-circular cloak fastened at the right shoulder or the center of the chest with a brooch or pin, the material depended on wealth status. Leather or woven belts were common, which held pouches and other personal belongings. Men wore simple leather turnshoes. Simple linen coifs were common, as well as woolen hoods or pointed hats to keep heads safe in stormy weather.
MENS HAIRSTYLES
As always, highborn lords kept their hair, about shoulder-length. Smallfolk wore their hair short. Religious men wore their hair in a tonsure style, which is having only the top of the head shaved, with a wreath of hair growing around it. Men had thin, long mustaches with either no beard or a neatly trimmed one.
WOMENS FASHION
Under their clothes women wore a linen chemise with close-fitting sleeves (rhyming). The neckline and the sleeves would both peak out from under the outerwear. Over this, women had two options- either a kirtle or a peplos gown. The kirtle was long and tailored, and highborn ladies had slits cut into them to accentuate their figure, and had either narrow sleeves or flared ones. The peplos gown was a tube dress that was held together by brooches at the shoulders, the material of which depended on wealth obvi. I imagine this being very similar to the Iron Islands apron dresses. Anyways, wool was the most common material. Even highborn ladies wore it, with silks being rarer. Earthy tone dyes were very common, and highborn ladies could wear more saturated dyed textiles decorated with woven braids or embroidery. Outside, women wore rectangular or semi-circle cloaks. These were fastened at the shoulder with a brooch or pin, or belted. Women again wore simple turnshoes like the men.
UNMARRIED WOMEN HAIRSTYLES
Unlike before the conquest, unmarried women were allowed to keep their hair uncovered, possibly taking ideas from the other kingdoms. Hair was kept long and braided into one or two plaits. Highborn ladies decorated these with ribbons, gold threads, or tucked them in to cylinders of decorative fabric. Braids were worn either loose, coiled at the back of the head, or wrapped in a simple band. However, it should be noted that highborn ladies prized their knee-length hair, while smallfolk had to keep it chin to shoulder length. Anyways. Over this, a fillet was common to keep hair in place, and high foreheads were seen as a sign of beauty, so hairlines were pushed back.
MARRIED WOMEN HAIRSTYLES
Married women once again had to cover their hair, so their locks were braided into two plaits and then coiled up into buns on the sides of the head. Then pinned down. Over this, two styles were common- the wimple or a veil held in place by a fillet. Hair and neck were covered, leaving just the face visible, and the material of head coverings depended on wealth status.
AEGON'S CONQUEST- THE REACH
When the head honchos House Gardener were all wiped out by the Targaryens, the Tyrells who were stewards, bowed to the dragonlords, and therefore became the new liege lords of the Reach.
MENS FASHION
Men wore a loose long-sleeved linen undershirt, and knee-length loose linen underwear. Over this, smallfolk men wore woolen mid thigh or knee-length tunics, while highborn lords wore finer wool or silk ankle-length tunics. Over this, a long red or black cloak or mantle with a small standing collar would be worn, pinned at the shoulder with a brooch or hook-and-eye. The material depended on wealth. Highborn lords could afford to have these fur-lined. Men always wore leather belts to carry their personal items. Leather turnshoes were worn, and men wore simple caps, hoods, or bonnets depending on social status to cover their heads.
MENS HAIRSTYLES
Smallfolk had short cropped hair, as usual. Highborn lords and knights wore their hair long and chin or shoulder length with a middle part, and oftentimes some fringe on the forehead. More towards the South, this damn Norman cut was popular as well, the shaved back of the head and sides, leaving the top. Religious men wore a tonsure hairstyle, the top of the head being shaved, leaving a ring of hair around it. Men favored clean-shaven looks, or had those pointed beards.
WOMENS FASHION
Under their outfits, long-sleeved linen shifts were worn. Over this, a fitted long-sleeved undertunic/cotte. Finally, an overgown was worn, which featured wide sleeves with detailed trim, embroidery, or silk bands at the collar, hem, and cuffs if you were highborn. The decoration depending on region. Towards the North, the material would be tailored wool, that grew fitted at the end of Aegon's conquest. In the South, it would be made of silk and have gold embroidery and bright colors. Smallfolk women just all wore wool. Women wore a fabric belt/girdle to cinch their waists. Shoes were also similar to men- leather turnshoes.
UNMARRIED WOMEN HAIRSTYLES
Unmarried women wore their hair long and uncovered, with most reaching the waist or even the knees with the ends curled. Hair was styled into one or two braids. Highborn ladies did hair taping, which was weaving colorful ribbons, silk cord, or cloth strips into their braids and then wrapping the hair around the head. Sometimes a fillet or a garland or flowers or jewelry was worn to keep hair in place.
MARRIED WOMEN HAIRSTYLES
Hair was braided into two and then coiled into buns at the back of the head or above the ears. Married women covered their hair with either transparent silk veils or linen wimples. To keep veils in place, sometimes a barbette or fillet was worn.

AEGON'S CONQUEST- THE CROWNLANDS
Aegon Targaryen and his fierce sister wives, Rhaenys and Visenya, would mount their dragons and fly from dragonstone to the mainland of Westeros- which soon became known as the City of King's Landing. From there, they launched their plans to conquer the rest of the kingdoms of Westeros. I imagine this is the fashion on Dragonstone, which was brought over to the new capitol of Westeros, and then would be copied by the others around.
MENS FASHION
Under their everyday clothes, men would wear a linen undertunic and loose, knee-length linen drawers. Over this, a long-sleeve woolen overtunic/kirtle was worn. Smallfolk men wore knee-length ones, while highborn lords sported ankle-length. These tunics were cinched at the waist with a leather or fabric belt which held a man's personal belongings. Hose were also worn, and sometimes they were cross-gartered with strips of leather to better hold them in place. Rectangular or circular mantles were worn over this and fastened at the right shoulder or the center of the chest with a brooch. Material would depend on wealth. Shoes were simple leather turnshoes and on their heads men wore linen coifs or a simple hood. Jaime Lannister...
MENS HAIRSTYLES
A lot of warriors (like I assume the bastard Baratheon brother would wear his hair this way) wore a Norman cut in France. Although it wouldn't be called that because Normandy didn't exist. Let's call it..........ummmmmmm. Guys. Give me something to call it. Anyway, it was pretty much very similar to a reverse mullet- the back of the head and neck shaved while the hair was longer on top. Aegon Targaryen and other highborn lords would wear their hair parted in the middle and long, reaching about chin or shoulder. Smallfolk would most likely shave their heads. More religious men had a tonsure hairstyle, which is just shaving the top of the head and leaving a circle of hair around it. These men were all typically clean-shaven.
WOMENS FASHION
While I do imagine Visenya wearing men's clothes sometimes- both of the dragon ladies made a huge impact on women's fashion. Under their clothes, women wore a long white hemp chemise. These had close-fitting sleeves and were gathered or decorated at the neckline because they peaked out from under the everyday layers. Over this was a floor or ankle-length cotte/kirtle. Highborn ladies had form fitted ones, while smallfolk ladies had looser, belted ones. Sleeves were long and tight, hems were decorated with colored bands or braids if one was wealthy. I imagine these were probably wool or linen? Over this, a wool cloak or mantle was worn, fastened by a brooch or clasp at the chest. Wealthy women could afford fur-lined cloaks. And again, material of brooch depended on wealth. All women also wore belts, a fabric or leather girdle was common. Highborn ladies knotted their long belts over their abdomens, and attached tassels or metal trinkets to hang down. Shoes were the same as men, simple leather turnshoes.
UNMARRIED WOMEN HAIRSTYLES
Hair was kept long, and usually braided. Highborn ladies decorated these braids with ribbons, silk strands, or metallic threads. I imagine the Targaryen women and maybe the other silver-haired families, would wear their hair loose and unbraided. Just down. Because all the other kingdoms braided their hair so they'd be like 'wtf are these girls doing'. Idk. It's unique. Anyways, sometimes women would wear fillets or flowers in their hair to keep it neat-looking.
MARRIED WOMEN HAIRSTYLES
Hair was pulled back into braids or buns and then pinned to the head. Women wore a coif, which was a fitted linen or silk cap under their head covering. Over this, a woman would wear a veil. The highborn ladies wore a sheer silk one, while smallfolk had opaque linen. By the end of Aegon's reign fillets and barbettes (a band of cloth pinned over the head and fastened under the chin) were common to hold the veil in place. The only women who didn't cover their heads were whores and 'ruined' women, despite marital status.

The Targaryens never deserved their dragons and did so wrong by them; especially the Dance-period-Targaryens.
Stop killing my sky puppies!!
So random...but can I just say I ship Daelor and Rhage?π€
Rhagerys and Daelor would have this toxicity that when paired together--just unhinged. And the gods wouldn't be able to save anyone that crossed their path or came between them.
This would be them.
Because when Rhagerys chooses to give his love to someone, that comes with everything that makes Rhagerys who he is. The good, the bad, the unhealthy.
Also both them being Daemon's boys--ain't nothing normal coming from either of them when it comes to how they care for the other.
So, yeah, their ship--Raelor(?) / Daegerys(?) / Toxic Love(?)--is something I absolutely can see and would be down for.
I love that you see the vision! Like it's not gonna be soft or kind. It's not gonna be two people seeing the other and realizing they are the only one who understands the other.
No it's gonna be claws and teeth. Bruises and broken bones. Violent and all consuming.
They both can be attracted to women, but have a broader spectrum with Men (from what I understand of my boy Rhage). And don't even get me started on if Visenya joined them. My creepy girl!
I will also say both are freakishly tall, Daelor being 6'5 and Rhage at 6'6 if I remember right. It would be the clash of Titans but in the most sexy and toxic way!
Plus goth have an unhealthy attachment to a parent which only futhers how they match each other's freak!
(Ps I love Rhagelor personally)
