“Mommy! Daddy! It’s here!” Annie smiled at the happines of her daughter. She had been patiently waiting for that day. “The presents are under the tree! Quick!”

“Theo sweetie, the presents won’t disappear. We have to wait for Dad”, said Annie as she patted her head.

“I know Mommy but I wanna open them now! Can I?”, Theo asked enthusiastically. “It’s Christmas Day after all!”

Annie sighed in defeat. How could she say no? “Go on”, she said, watching Theo rush to unwrap her present. She reminded her of Armin. They both had the same sparkling eyes, full of life.

“Hello, your Majesty”, Annie heard Armin say as he walked his way downstairs. Speak of the devil.

“Majesty…?”, Annie asked letting out a chuckle.

“Why yes of course. You’re my ice queen.”

“I thought you had stopped calling me that.”

“It’s a Christmas special”, Armin winked and kissed her on the lips. “Merry Christmas, love!”

“Merry Christmas, Armin”, she cooed while smiling. It was indeed a wonderful Christmas day.

“Dad, Dad, look! Look what Santa brought me!” Theo ran towards them, face red in excitement, holding a book in her hands.

“Let me see, sweetie”, Armin said, brushing Theo’s hair off her face. She showed him the book; it had a blue cover, the title written on it with big, golden letters.

“The Ocean”, Armin read. He was glad his daughter had a passion for the ocean as much as he did. “Must be interesting! What if I read it to you tonight? How does that sound?”, he suggested.

“Yes yes yes please!” Theo responded, hugging her dad with a bright smile on her face.

“Theo”, called Annie, coming out of the kitchen. “Your breakfast is ready!”

“Coming!” She hurried to the kitchen, taking her Christmas present with her to look at the pictures, leaving Annie and Armin alone.

“Well this-”, said Armin, pausing to get a wrapped present that was underneath the tree “-is for you.” He handed it to Annie, waiting for her reaction.

“It’s a book”, Annie responded before even opening it.

“It’s a book”, Armin confirmed, smiling at her.

“Disappointed but not suprised”, he heard Annie say. “Oh, come on. You know me”, he laughed, watching a small smile form on his wife’s lips. That smile was the one he treasured the most.

“I do know you”, Annie said. “That is why I got you… this.” She gave Armin his present.

“A book?”, Armin exclaimed and looked at her, faking a surprised face.

“No, a submarine.”

“A book, it is.”

I decided to redraw this cause I wanted to draw something AruAni [but had no ideas] and I noticed that this fanart’s anniversary was comeing up [today] so here it is!

[Part 2] Also, Bert and Reiner’s friendship is comparable to that of Eren and Armin. I wouldn’t necessarily say Bert’s “clearly horny for Reiner” unless you’d say the same about Eremin.

(x) To me, the fact Armin chooses to confide in Annie now, even though she’s trapped in a crystal, doesn’t really surprise me. Of the three Warriors that trained with the 104th, Armin seemed closest to Annie. Additionally, there was that whole thing where Armin knew Annie was in possession of Marco’s 3dmg, yet he didn’t say anything to the higher-up’s in the Survey Corps for a long time. And in Stohess, it’s Armin who they send to find Annie and ask her for safe passage through the district, rather than Eren or Mikasa. This choice must be because he had a closer relationship with her than the other two.

I do feel that Bertolt’s memories have some part to play in this, but not in the way most people think - that somehow Bertolt’s emotions have transferred to Armin -  for me, it’s more like by seeing Bertolt’s memories of Annie, Armin is able to understand and sympathize with the girl even more. (even when she revealed herself, Armin was still willing to talk it out with her instead of automatically resorting to violence) 

This scene made my day ! Oh God, is Armin really influenced by Bert’s memories and feelings ? He looks too flustered to be innocent haha
