Hi there, @shadow-ravin, I’m sorry about the long delay in reply.  I’ve been thinking it over the last few weeks, and I’m afraid that this year my life and schedule is just too busy for me to run this.  I should be able to run it next year, when work dials down.

FAQs:

How much time does it take to learn about someone else’s minor fandom?

The recipient usually includes a lot of helpful links that allow you to get a quick sampling, so if you’re short on time, I’d say ~2 hours.  That said, part of the fun of Art Yuletide is learning about (or revisiting) an obscure thing, so if you get caught up in it.... who knows?  You might have a new favorite show or end up rereading all of Nancy Drew.

Why is the sign-up form so long?

It’s so that the person drawing your minor fandom has all the resources they need!  But yeah, depending on the fandom, it may take a while to collect the links.

Do I have to be a good artist?

What is Good Art, really?  ;)  Think about how happy you’d be to get a picture of your OC, or your super obscure fandom.  So it’s less about how “good” the art is and more about how thoughtful the art is.   That said, I suppose there’s a certain baseline of “eyes goes on face” that need to be met.  Here’s the artwork from 2017, 2016 , 2015 , 2014.

Can I join if I only write fic?

It’s art-centric, so the requests may be phrased as an image and not as a fic scene.  That said, there have been cool fic gifts.

What if I don’t want to receive fic?

I always check with the recipient first before assigning.

He’s beautiful. Head thrown back, the sun catching the line of his throat, I watch him and can’t suppress a smile.

“What?” he asks, when his half-lidded eyes catch mine.

“Nothing,” I say. “I like when you laugh.”

He slides his palm across the floorboard of the porch between us. “Hey,” he says quietly. “I like your laugh, too.”

I put my hand down next to his, just barely touching. “You want to take the truck out?”

“Sure,” he says. He pulls on the shoes he’d shucked off earlier, and I offer my hand.

He takes it.

I love him.
