Astrud Fernandez Moscoso

18 years old, from Manila, Philippines. I just graduated senior high school from De La Salle Zobel Vermosa Campus under the Arts & Design track. Currently a freshman student of De La Salle - College of Saint Benilde - School of Design and Arts and will be taking a degree in B.S. Architecture. I’ve been into creating art seriously for the past three years now and still pursuing for this is truly my passion. I am a self-taught artist thru the help of “You Tube” videos, art books given by my family, inspirations from the works of may fave local and foreign artists and guidance from my art-loving parents. After sketching and applying the discipline of ink on paper, I use watercolor or acrylic mediums to put every detailed ideas of mine into canvas. Executing my own style that I believed will result into a good composition and whether people will see my works as contemporary, realism or abstract expressionism, all I can say is that it is “Me.” My subjects were mainly based on my experiences, observations and on my own interpretations of what I see in life that portrays strong emotions. Again, it is “Me.” The vibrant colors used on my paintings have different meanings wherein for me, it is not only positive in nature but can also be in a way negative, like living in a melancholy world. Most of my works conveys the audience in remembering their childhood days and for them to reminisce and appreciate what life is in the past. It also represents every childhood’s dreams as it fears reaching adulthood. Again, we have to remember the nature of innocence.
